People should have a right to shape decisions in their localities.

We're recommending that the NPPF contains a new chapter 21 focused on prioritising community empowerment.

The end of zeroΒ carbonΒ homes

We’ve signed this because new homes should be built for the future, not to lower standards. The proposed planning changes could limit councils from requiring stronger environmental standards, including zero carbon homes. read more @thetcpa.bsky.social www.tcpa.org.uk/the-end-of-z...

Government accused of caving in to building lobby amid plans to shake up housing sector in England New changes to planning rules would limit scope of English councils and prevent them pursuing improvements to low-carbon homes

The end of zeroΒ carbonΒ homesΒ

Very pleased to have added my name to this letter. Stopping local leadership on zero carbon homes is not what's needed as we shift to the need to decarbonise housing, the next big challenge for the UK's move to net zero (alongside transport).

I'm a signatory to this letter to Steve Reed. We need the government to step up and support a standard for zero carbon homes. Rather than pandering yet again to the developer lobby, Labour should be ensuring future homes are climate friendly as well as cheaper and more efficient to run.

This is a disgraceful situation - too many NEW homes are not being built with good insulation, damp, poorly ventilated and failing to protect young families from harm. Plus it costs so much to address retrospectively. The #NewHomesOmbudsman needs proper weight to hold constructors to account!

One change in the draft NPPF is especially worrying in relation to the nation’s health: it weakens the policy basis for tackling health inequalities.

This is happening when legislation, devolution reforms & health strategy & policy are pulling in the opposite direction.
