These redraws were going to be a lot simpler. But as I started on the SW one, I kind of "locked in" (as the kids would say). Then I thought it be weird to leave the other lacking.

Some folks forget that designs are an art. Art is free to reinterpretation by other artists.
Artists making redesigns isn't going to hurt people's ability to enjoy the original, in most cases.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind the small starting roster if it was at least one character per region & they weren't all marketable human like champs.
Here's hoping whoever the last 2 champs they add by launch will mix something up.

"A.I." isn't inevitable. It's just being pushed so much by greedy corporations & dumb tech bros that it seems inevitable.
Once the hype around it dies, both of these groups will move on from it & stop shoving it in everyone's faces.
(It's not even A.I. to begin with)
