Can't really argue with most or, in fact, probably any of this. But that said...I went along for the ride and really blooming enjoyed it. The Rani actually felt like it actually was The Rani this time to me.
And that cameo had me saying, 'fuck I've REALLY missed her.'

Just watched Doctor Who. Liked a lot of it up until the word vomit of weird logic. Possibly I'm tired from tonights gig and missing stuff. But having a character say this isn't just exposition isn't a get out of jail free card for said very tiresome expo dump and I'm a bit surprised he thinks it is.
