Last week, the #AdultRehabilitationBCHC team virtually attended @edarcen.bsky.social discussions about 'EDAR in the community'.

It was an interesting session, and prompted some thoughtful discussions amongst the team around EDAR decisions and how they translate in the community! #CEN #CPD

Happy AHP day to our fellow SLTs, OTs, physiotherapists, psychologists, dietitians, paramedics, and all other AHPs who we work closely alongside to assess and manage service users holistically!! #AHPsDay2025 #teamwork #MDT ❤️❤️

With patients with dysphagia, we work closely with our Dietetic colleagues when re-introducing oral intake following a period of being NBM. Two of our SLTs observed a PEG removal last week by a nutrition nurse - this was done at the bedside! #MDTworking #AdultRehabilitationBCHC

Had some great teaching from our nutrition nurses this afternoon on the different types of feeding tubes. It was interesting to hear about how they're inserted, how they're removed and why one may be used instead of another. Also loved the models!!

Before I head off home, I have my weekly supervision session with my Practice Educator. Here we discuss my health and wellbeing🌿, discuss anything I am having difficulty with and also discuss our achievements 🏆🎉 e.g. I officially submitted my last assignment📄🖊️!!

To finish off we have the SLT "case reviews" meeting. We discuss our caseloads, review long and short term goals, discuss current Dysphagia recommendations and Communication diagnoses and share any ideas on management of patients. 📈🤓

Then time for my own lunch, catching up with my peer Naz, and getting started on session planning for the next day. Tasks I've prepped:

Lunchtime was busy! I did a mealtime observation with a dysphagic patient - picking out a Level 5 Minced and Moist meal to assess them with and practiced using thickener to make a Level 2 Mildly Thick Orange Squash. Lots of IDDSI learning 🍲🥛🍽️

Now time for some admin...writing case notes and completing sections in a discharge report for one of the patients on my caseload ✍️📝

Our SLTA is setting up for communication group. I am joining to observe one of my clients to see their communication skills in a group setting 👥. Today’s activity is Guess the Occupation 💼
