Our new paper, now published in @natcomms.nature.com , asks a simple question: when two tasks share a common structure, does the brain learn them more efficiently? Surprisingly, this was not the case. Thread below (1/7)

Exemplary analysis pipeline for respiratory data
'Robust circular cluster-based statistics
for respiration-brain coupling'
New preprint, and what a way to welcome @teresaberther.bsky.social to the #neuroskyence community. With @eliobalestrieri.bsky.social, she developed CBPT for circular #bodybrain analyses.

🧵🔽
Together with Teresa Berther, @martinasaltafossi.bsky.social, @eliobalestrieri.bsky.social, and @ualsbombe.bsky.social, we have developed a pipeline which uses IAAFT-based respiration time series surrogates to then adapt gold-standard cluster permutation testing for circular (phase-binned) data.

These two projects have been brewing for a long time, and we’re thrilled to finally share them.
Huge thanks to collaborators/friends for their work and patience: Clayton Hickey, Giorgio Coricelli, @eliobalestrieri.bsky.social and Damiano Grignolio.
What a great SciComm initiative by the Italian science community in Germany! 👏
Bringing kids closer to science in their native language 🥹🇮🇹 love that!
It sounds weird but... I somehow feel you.

Did anyone use correlations for a temporal generalisation analysis? I have a hard time finding something, but it seems straight forward (and symmetric) for my problem at hand.
I want to do encoding, not decoding analyses.
Pointers greatly appreciated !

This new flow of people to BS is heartwarming...
Welcome everybody! Let's show that an alternative to X is possible!
An enlightening read!

The third #preprint in 3 months, what a sequence!
In this work first-authored by @janafehring.bsky.social, we probe new features characterizing cortical hierarchy and its changes through the #lifespan. Check it out! :D

At the WikiJournal of Science, the first article that I edited has now been published! en.wikiversity.org/wiki/WikiJou... Two peer reviewers gave a bunch of expert input, resulting in extensive revisions and us now publishing the article. We are a Scopus-indexed scholarly journal and a COPE member.

Excited to share the first preprint of my postdoc!
We explored a novel features space to describe M-EEG timeseries. These features are highly informative in differentiating brain states, even more than canonical features like power in predefined frequency bands! :D
