These are fantastic! π
It takes real skill to convey texture and shape like this without relying on black outlines.

The...the guy! The Drive guy!

31.10.2025 04:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just like last time, I was given a ton of leeway regarding the character designs.
My favorite part was definitely drawing these ravenous purple enemies (or "goobers," as they're labeled in my Layers) forming a chaotic spiral!
Proud to share another one of my Steam capsule artworks--this time for the game 'Nemesis Shock', a neon-soaked roguelike twin-stick shooter developed by Orange Crater!
31.10.2025 03:58 β π 21 π 6 π¬ 3 π 0Found this battered old USB drive my dad gave me back in 2005. As you can tell, it's been through a lot.
For context, we still had dial-up Internet back then. The idea of something this small could hold 256 MB was incredible!
Damn, that's a whole deeper level of the rabbit hole! Searching for footage now.

22.10.2025 20:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think the hashtag #KatanaZERO is cooler than the other one.π

18.10.2025 15:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Dude this is peak. Pinkie's gotta be my favorite.
14.10.2025 14:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh boy, can't wait for the soundtrack composed by Lotus Juice. π
25.09.2025 01:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, it does seem more βpureβ on some levelβmaking art for its own sake as a hobby, not for money or self-promotion.
β¦But it also makes me feel senile, when I remember an artwork online but canβt find it b/c itβs been deleted. π©
That is a very common attitude among Japanese artists, tooβnot seeking exposure, but instead wanting to keep their work within private circles, where they can control who sees what.
19.09.2025 16:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks to the game's simple models, it was easy to render them in my own style and play with perspective without making too much extra work for myself.
Keep your designs simple, folks! π
I'm glad to share some promo art I drew for 'Wiz Hunter', an upcoming indie roguelike deckbuilder from Swedish developer QuadArk!
It's about a muscle-bound cyclops who seeks revenge on a cabal of asshole wizards after they burn down his farm.
It was a ton of fun to draw. Thanks again to QuadArk!
I vote top left but that's my caveman Yu-Gi-Oh brain talking.
I recognize Solemn Judgment and Judge Man, I don't know the pink lady, but boobs, so I click the video. I have no idea who the center character in the bottom two is, her intricate design doesn't read well at thumbnail size.
My point is, if you're going to pay homage to that era of retro games, at least do it justice and hire a professional pixel artist, please!
We're nice people, and not too expensive, I promise! π₯Ή
Warframe does slightly, with Caliber Chicks 2 featuring some genuinely good splash art, but its POM-2 UI still has some bad-looking chat icons and blockiness.
10.09.2025 03:08 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've begun noticing this same trend in AAA games, where there's arcade cabinet with a cute faux-retro minigame that almost ALWAYS has the ugliest MS Paint-tier pixel art I've seen.
These games are pushing 4K textures and post-processing, but when it comes to pixels it's amateur hour with MS Paint.
A few years ago I mentioned my pet peeve with "pixel art" on mainstream products, which are always slapped-together with no regard for techniques like line weight, curves, or anti-aliasing that makes it a genuine art form.
10.09.2025 02:58 β π 19 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Like village elders, it is our duty to pass on the boomer-game culture to the next generation. βπ
02.09.2025 05:03 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Recently shared my Steam account with my youngest brother.
After a childhood spent in Roblox and Valorant, heβs already beaten Mark of the Ninja and well into UFO 50.

27.08.2025 19:06 β π 24 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, turns out it was the usual: a perfusion of ideas, and not having to constantly fret over money.
Great article by @jasonschreier.bsky.social, I recommend yβall give it a read!
Ayyy, Silksong on September 4th!
Anticipating the feedback will be, βItβs is pretty good, but in no way should this have taken seven years.β

I havenβt reached that part yet! π
But I agree, that period before DUSK revived the boomer-shooter genre was a low point for most of the iD alumni. Looking forward to what he says about it.
