structure (that you can break to degrees so it's not super linear) if that makes any sense. the only things left to figure out are UI stuff and the visual style for battles (which all depends on how much more I wanna draw)... all in all, I think the idea I have tho... could help.

where I got this idea from in first place. I've only really had good ideas for the story and battle parts of rpgs. not the exploration that pieces those together. and because my game is based on my comic book idea, I figured maybe I should structure more like it's original inspirations of Shonen

I love X5, but man, so bad of an idea to start the level like this. better game design would've given you a straight line and let you mess with buttons. "oh, I can jump"... hell even better is giving you something safe to jump up to first, THEN a pit lol.

I haven't shown off battle in a very long time thinking about it now. but, I gotta completely redo a lot of it visually. while I've gotten a lot working going from rpg maker MV to MZ... a lot of the visual things I had done, I gotta either redo, figure out something else, or scrap entirely.

that's probably what I'll have to do. sucks tho considering what I was able to do in MV. things in MZ feel way more hard coded and it feels way harder to get around it. the plugins I've tried using to do so, come with other issues, so I'm not feeling it with them either.

I'll check these out. I've been super struggling trying to get stuff to look like how I had them in MV. It's been a chore trying to move windows around and everything I've tried using causes something weird to happen. and the main thing I used for MV doesn't work on MZ, even with stuff like FOSSIL.

for any #rpgmaker people using MZ... what are you doing for UI related stuff. I feel that's easily the thing I loathe the most about MZ. I had almost ALL of that worked out in MV and it was a big reason I didn't wanna even touch MZ.

this one is interesting to me. some of my now favorite games are ones I was only able experience via emulation. but based on what I've seen, my almost 70 yr old mom is more computer literate than some Gen z folks. they're so used to phones now. and here I still LOATHE using a phone over my desktop.

I hate that I don't find Mega Man X4 that fun compared to X5 when I KNOW X4 is a better designed game. but I just don't have as much fun with it compared to X5. a lot of that for me at least is I think X4's ost is pretty blah. X5 tho, I listen to a lot of that to this day.

the second one tho? absolutely loved it. I will say it's one of my favorite rpgs in general even. but I remember hearing a lot about the first one thinking it was right up my alley. and it was... but when you see what changes the 2nd one made in comparison tho, it fixed pretty much all my issues.

between the late 80s and early 2000s. 10 final fantasy mainline games. between like 2006 to 2026, 12-16. even back then 12 had a LONG Dev cycle. so how do form attachments? you can go back... I did. I started with ff12 and I've played most of them. but... not everyone's doing that.

Also, as you can see... Ray follows Mike offscreen during map transitions, along with dust kicking up as they run. I was going to redo Ray's run animation like I did Mike's... but I think him doing the Mega Man NES run was more fitting for his character than something with more frames.
