- there's a timer until something bad happens, like collateral damage. You must decide if you'll be safe and calculated or if you'll brashly try to save everyone
- not one boss, but two. They hate each other and you. It's a mexican standoff
- someone offers aid against the boss. Do you trust them?

That's a very broad question, so here are some of my favorite broad tropes:
- something much scarier bursts in, you must collaborate w/ the boss to defeat/survive it
- the boss room has traps! You must avoid them but can also use them to your advantage if you're smart about it

J'ai participé à un atelier gravure cet après-midi à la médiathèque. Gravure sur tetrapack et impression sur tissu sur le thème de l'eau. Je me suis éclaté !

Et évidemment, la première que j'ai faite était un hommage à Sombres Courants @sotirispitelis.bsky.social ;)

it really is a shame that for so many people, the only conception they have of a TTRPG is a lord of the rings style party of adventurers getting into fights and exploring dungeons

there's *so* much more out there, y'all

My #ttrpg Hot Take of the day:
Play the game as is BEFORE making changes. See how the game was intended, where the balance rests, and THEN add/change/subtract as needed or wanted.

Makes no sense to add/change/remove from a system you haven't tested first.

Recently finished this commission, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
After a long few months of really struggling with art block, it felt good to actually finish something~

I love love love this art! Guillaume made it for my #ttrpg, Black Currents, which makes it all the more special, but it still fascinated me on its own.

Just makes me want to lie down under a starry sky somewhere...

Quote post with a picture of you being a dork!

It's not ttrpg related, but I love Don Rosa's work. This was a while ago, but I'm still so happy I met him!

That's it for now, although these three games were a drop in the ocean of stuff that inspires me! What about you?

What can I say about Sunless Sea that hasn't been said already. Just a masterclass in evocative writing, to the point that I outright cite it as an inspiration in my ttrpg Black Currents.

I can't play this game without wanting to just write, put word to paper, and hope I can do it half as well.

I'm admittedly a sucker for a good old-fashioned dungeoncrawl, even though I always seem to stray from the "evil dumb monsters" approach and go for some nuance.

Legend of Grimrock 1 & 2 reinforce that itch and inspire me to play a traditional ttrpg, exploring dungeons and discovering loot.

Hollow Knight's writing and presentation of a story are top notch.

The way it remains mysterious but never gets obtuse makes for a wonderful experience, especially if you go in blind. Playing it really makes me want to write grand, overarching storylines!

#ttrpg folks, our hobby overlaps a lot with many others. Literature, movies, video games... Today I'd like to talk about the latter!

What are some video games that inspired you or got you in the mood to write or play a ttrpg? Bonus points if they're not rpgs ✨

My picks in the 🧵 below!

I hadn't heard of either, but these covers are breathtaking.

And yes, the movie was a masterpiece by all accounts!

It's been a while since I read a good book tbh. I got Frankenstein recently, got in the mood after watching del Toro's movie and I realized I had never read the book. That's on the top of my list right now 😄

What are you reading?

For me, it's undoubtedly Black Currents by @sotirispitelis.bsky.social
I loved it so much that I contacted the author and together we created the illustrated version (by me), a French version, and physical editions.

Happy (belated) new year #ttrpg folks!

I've been spread thin between real life and ongoing projects, but I'm excited for stuff that's been brewing for a while. I'll probably have big news for @evergreen-ttrpg.bsky.social in the next months ✨

The Mountain by Sotiris A system-agnostic setting about Sisyphean hope.

Life's been a bit of an uphill struggle lately, so I'm not really active here.

It's only fitting that I remind you of the Mountain, my tiny #ttrpg setting about those that climb endlessly.

It's free if you want to give it a read and sigh deeply alongside me. The climb goes on.

A screenshot of Night Witches. The header "GENDER CONTENT" is followed by the text: "Night Witches is, at its core, about women and their experiences during a cataclysmic war. How you parse this is up to you, but it is, very specifically, not a game about people in wartime—but women.
The dominant military narrative has always been reductively masculine, and it’s easy to view war through this lens. When sex and gender enter the story—if they enter the story—it is rarely important and never central. This game is different. By playing women, you’ll get a chance to think about that traditional narrative critically, as you explore characters who fall on its uncomfortable margin."

Night Witches isn't necessarily a horror game, but it can definitely be played as such.

This one has been on my "to try" list for a long while. I haven't had the chance yet, but the book is a powerful read even before playing the game.
