There was another public meeting on February 11 where the Community & Library Services Commission approved the plaque, our statement was sent to both the council and the commission ahead of both meetings. They voted to approve despite hundreds of calls, emails and public speakers opposing the plaque

Statement issued from the Friends of the Huntington Beach Public Library

The library is not responsible for the plaque. The library has been attacked by our city council for nearly 2 years. It is a city library, a city owned building. It is not the fault of the library.

Nurtured by pandemic habits, Huntington Beach Central's 'seed library' is sprouting new interest Since the card catalog cabinet reopened its drawers in mid-March new crowds, likely inspired by a pandemic-related uptick in home gardening, have come to check out seeds.

We love our seed library!
