Year 11s have started doing half papers today. Used a free online pdf editor to cut it in half but it messed up loads of the powers and brackets. It gets sent to repro so can't really say only print page 1,3,5,7,9 etc...

Year 8 had a great lesson, half of it spent on tally charts and the other half on dual bar charts.
I was surprised how many of them remembered how to do tally charts.
This was just 4 of the examples I used, that one was included in the rest of the question. Thankfully no students made that error today!

Year 8 did bar charts today and got to use the scaffolded worksheet I made 4 years ago when doing my teacher training.
Since then added some questions where they have to spot the mistake.
Started building my Lego at 5pm, next thing you know it's 9:30pm and I haven't eaten dinner. Whoops.

What warning signs could students pick up on that they might have gone wrong in an answer?
e.g.
- an unexpected negative/decimal answer,
- an answer requiring many more/fewer steps than the number of marks would suggest,
- an answer that would be weird in context (e.g. a taxi costing Β£3000)
...
With the tiny bottom you may have most students who can't access a topic but one that surprising great at it. Try having some basic maths worksheets that you can dish out if they finish, trying to sort them out and the students who don't understand still is hard.

My year 11 Students were given a paper to do over the holidays. I have at least 2 of them that's obviously just cheated on it. Like what's the point, I don't understand what they are gaining from that.
I've learnt nothing from their work.

Year 9 have started looking at correlation. Lots of describing and plotting graphs.
I found the teacher tapp question pretty hard to answer today as I was a previous trainee.
Like this year is better than last year but go further back and 2 of us who trained here now work here.
And labels updated!

Year 11 looked at Density today. It was something most of them got wrong in their mocks but I feel more confident that as long as they remember the formula its no longer an issue.
Both my sister and my Aunt have it. Got told in biology at school it was only boys and got very confused like... That's not true.

I'll add the letter on each one. Don't believe any of my students are noted as colourblind but like my sister didn't realise until she was on sixth form trying to do chemistry colour change experiments.
I did think you were being an arse don't worry!
Are you perhaps colourblind. (I may need to change the colours of the sweets if that's causing an issue)

Year 8 introducing mode visually (very small groups I like getting the counters out but doesn't work for every group)

Today Year 8 looked at finding the mean. We started by looking at how to make it fair to share money.

Year 8s had a lesson on angles in a quadrilateral today
First question, what is a quadrilateral, about 1/3 of the class knew. (Both set 3 of 3 groups) We learnt them 3 weeks prior. Thankfully once they knew what it was they could name some.
Not sure what phase of my life Iβm in, but hereβs that modelling balloon icosidodecahedron nobody asked for!
In theory it could be made out of a single modelling balloon, although in reality they donβt make balloons long enough :(
Making use of the split tile buttons to complete the square even if the coefficient of x is odd.

Here's a simple ggb. You can drag vertices around and you can click on the angles themselves to toggle the visibility of the angle sizes.

They updated it! They separated it into measuring angles and angle rules and my link only took me to the measuring angles one.
Honestly thought I was going insane with it being different.
