The first mobile phone I used (not mine but work provided) was a shoulder phone that was quite heavy and big. Bet you don't even know that kind of phone has ever existed.

I'd rather call this "how old are you checklist".

Not sure if the mailing system is properly working within the US but as long as 1) the contents in your parcel are not intended for sale for consumption, 2) the contents in your parcel are worth less than $100 (per one parcel), the Japan Post Office accepts it.

It's kinda funny to me you called them cinnamon cookies. Yeah they do taste like cinnamon but technically you are wrong. It's called nikki in Japanese and while both are made from the plants under the same species, nikki is made from the roots while cinnamon is from the bark.

That bridge is called Kisen-bashi (Kisen Bridge).

Even though it's not Shinkansen, it ain't take 10 mins from the theatre to the eel restaurant. It's on the other side of the bridge.

It would've been pretty neat to meet someone like you in person but unfortunately I've got things to do today and it's inevitable.

The real problem is that it can take a couple of hours driving A MILE once you're in Kyoto because it's packed with the tourists. And the vast majority of tourists places aren't located anywhere near the train stations. You are smart you aren't going to those places.

I've never met anyone who'd travel between Kyoto and Osaka by Shinkansen and I'm sure as hell I never will. It's only less than an hour ride by regular trains. (Yeah I know you really wanted it.)

Some Japanese people, middle-aged or the above to be specific, prefer rice to bread for brekkie. And since meat is a bit heavy for mornings, fish is always the choice. Salmon is one of the most popular choices as it's not too greasy but still not dry plus it's also familiar for those from overseas.

Hm, must've been Kinokuniya main store? The largest book store in Osaka. Wherever it was, it's good though. A whole bunch of book stores have closed down because of the likes of Amazon and I'd assume it's global.

I've never done that. As an Osaka native, I'd know some secret tips to get what I want without waiting in line, like the right time, right branch etc.

Well, I did tell you to get their Modern-yaki.

Did they give you a small piece of paper (a bill) in which the list of food you ordered was written down (or typed out)? Look around on your table or under and if there isn't, just go to the casher and they'll know what you've had.

As far as I know, there are no restaurants in Japan where you have to pay upfront. Some exceptions exist but it's either the ones where you have to buy tickets for your preferred food or fast food chains like Maccas or Starbucks.

Get a bite or two from Spot or you'll be forever regretful for not eating their noodles.

You must've seen a lot of shops at the JR Shin-Osaka station (not subway) building. It's called Eki-Marche. If you are catching the train from there (You can't get in the building without having paid for train tickets), there are 3 must-do's.

got them what's called Modan-yaki (okonomiyaki topped with noodles) and they loved it. IMO, they are the best okonomiyaki restaurant.
