I know it's trite but I'm a big believer in "what you allow, you condone" and you cannot just shoulder shrug behavioral issues and then shocked Pikachu an email to parents about how the issues that occur only at school are not resolved by parents talking to their kid 6 hrs after the behavior happens

Also why is my kid coming home with a dozen half-baked worksheets? Do kindergartners learn anything from worksheets with a student-teacher ratio of 28:1?

I am 5 weeks into parenting with a kid in a well-funded public school system and boy howdy, WTF is going on with the schools?

I don't doubt the schools are filled with dedicated teachers busting their asses, but the whole thing seems so damn bootleg.

I still don't fundamentally get it. Why is the military necessary? They have an effectively infinite budget for dudes in Army OCPs to terrorize cities, and 75% of the population can't tell anyway. And why provoke these cases and take the big Ls now instead of right when they make their putsch?

My favorite was watching a medical platoon wander aimlessly into an ambush and the observer/controller tell them they were now all dead.

"But sir, there's not anyone to hand our patients off to."

It's a stretch, but I think they could've tied it into early moral panic about kids getting obsessed with video games. They'd have to sell Worf's mental state or do something where Worf can't distinguish the game from reality and still thinks it's the game as he takes command IRL.

This would make such a great TNG episode. InfantryWorf becomes obsessed with a Holodeck wargame, eventually beating a reluctant Picard.

Worf, high on victory, locks Picard in the Holodeck and takes command of the Enterprise. Romulans show up. Riker regains control and the Enterprise warps away.

I don't, but nothing I've heard secondhand suggests he would have left with much bluster (like doing a week of interviews on cable news). That's not derogatory, but he's retired now and he hasn't done the cable news circuit or anything.

To some extent I think that keeps people from resigning. I've had more than a few civs tell me they are probably mentally ready to bail, but at least they feel good about physically occupying a spot that a nutjob might take.

He's a good study in why you don't see more resignations or truth telling among senior leaders. There's a timeline where they keep Brown, he has heartburn over Marines in LA and they either sack him or he resigns in protest. And then nothing happens, and we're in the exact same place.

Caine's book is really gonna be something. Probably will have a name like "High Speed," it'll be 300 ghost written pages of tall tales from flight school, a relatively boring play by play of his JSOC time, drone/AI saviorism, and an epilogue about how both sides must stop mil politicization.

My one skeet review of Gabby's Dollhouse, The Movie: A re-tread of the plot of Toy Story 2 movie with none of the charm, humor, or decent songs. Felt long at barely 90 minutes. Kristen Wiig was wasted with a confusing character. Movie could've committed to being a lot more fun. My 6yo recommends it.
