9/ so, being ready in the mind is not enough. maybe #putin has gone a bridge too far this time and finally incited #trump and #poland to align their strategic interests. i am really waiting for the moment where trump understands what game putin plays and hits back.

8/ also, the incursion into polish airsprace uncovers vital blind spots in #poland: why didn't their air defense detect and destroy these drones? why did figher aircraft sortie - highly unusual to use f-16 and f-35 to shoot down drones. ukraine has #gepard - but poland?

7/ there is only way #russia can win this war: if it succeeds at invading the west from the inside, corrupting hearts and minds into an appeasement mindset. these drones are yet another step along the way.

5/ so the real question is not about poland or russia, but about #appeasement: after three years of war, is the collective west now ready to show some spine and react with courage? or will it cower once more?

4/ #poland was right to invoke article 4 of the NATO treaty: unless a clear signal of deterrence and decisiveness is given, russia may get the impression that such provocations or negligence - even in the unlikely case that attack was not intentional - will go unharmed.

3/ for #putin, this creates an opportunity: if these drones "err" or "sadly lose their way" and crash into poland, he can observe both polish air defense and #nato readiness for free: how serious are they?

2/ these drones may or may not have been part of a larger operation that targets western #ukraine. note that over the last months, #russia has extended its attacks even to the far west of ukraine.
