Chicory is a game about the challenges of creating art, of impostor syndrome, and of breaking the rules and imagining a more equitable future. And it has an absolutely banger soundtrack, my favourite from
@lena.fyi, and thatβs saying something.

Ever since the creation of this category, I knew it was just a matter of time that Austin Wintory would win. Itβs fitting itβs for a @giantsquidstudios.com collaboration. He and @mattnava.bsky.social do magic together. Congrats!

Tall Trails by @bradysoglin.bsky.social: a charmingly silly game with joyous and varied movement and level design, a surprisingly meaty experience for a solo project. One of my 6yr oldβs favourites of 2025. Currently on sale on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/2393760/...
17.01.2026 15:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Experienced bugs related to characters speaking when I was trying to interact with the map or go to sleep. There was also one English translation error near the end: βceaseβ instead of βseizeβ I believe.
17.01.2026 15:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Would benefit from mini-game instructions in the menu (and maybe a way of turning these off: my kid couldnβt do them), a way to tell the difference between main and side quests, and having characters go silent when youβve exhausted their dialogue.
17.01.2026 15:07 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Fading Serenades by @partnano.bsky.social: a miniature βstrandβ game in the trappings of Stardew Valley exploring topical themes of obsolescence and technology-related ecological collapse. Beautiful sound and pixel art kept me going despite repetitious dialogue and quests.

16.12.2025 00:16 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0i am begging game developers and musicians who are not putting your soundtracks on bandcamp/ampwall to just... do that... please... i will not be streaming your music off A Music Service. let me actually give you money.

21.11.2025 03:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Enjoy! There are some good songs. I donβt even play this genre and itβs my most played game this year. Though i mostly play really small indie games so thatβs maybe that carries less weight than it does with others. I didnβt play Clair Obscure this year for example.
21.11.2025 03:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You or your student, @profjay.bsky.social? Or @kategalloway.bsky.social for a musical perspective.
20.11.2025 00:54 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Totally. It seems always this way. Thankfully we now have the @indiegameawards.gg. So many games on there I hadnβt heard of. I just played Many Nights a Whisper last night. What an impactful game in such a small package. Only weird aspect was Clair Obscure been deemed βindie.β
18.11.2025 01:09 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs like 10 hours. I donβt want to say too much. I guess Iβll just say that I donβt think itβs going to blow your mind. But I am glad I played it. This would be a game for me right now. Iβve actually considered replaying it.
08.11.2025 11:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My big one is Expedition 33, though to be honest I donβt think Iβm going to get to it for GOTY season. Life is too much right now.

08.11.2025 11:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Congrats! Glad but not surprised to see Sword on this list. Yes, where is Expedition 33 and Hades II? I know this was never going to happen for such an indie release but I would have loved to see @lena.fyiβs Beastieball get its flowers too: such a fun listen.
07.11.2025 22:04 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I literally went on Bluesky just to see what you two are doing for Halloween. Bravo! Love it!

Hello friends!
My team is looking for a musician / audio designer for contract work on our combat-focused game!
We're looking for music that's catchy, energetic, featuring chopped vocals, funky rhythms, and a seamless mix of hip-hop, electronic, and funk.
Moonglow Bay is running WAY better on my desktop and I managed to get past the first boss. Iβm so relieved. We were really enjoying the core gameplay. This is a reason to have a βskip Xβ accessibility option, at least for casual games. I really appreciated this about @awaceb.bsky.socialβs Tchia.
01.07.2025 03:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Is anyone else finding that the sound effects almost totally obscure the music in Mario Kart World? I feel like they kept the balance the same as 8 but now there are twice as many players, and at least twice the chaos. I need to listen to the music outside of the game to get a sense of it.
01.07.2025 02:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My daughter and I started Moonglow Bay by @bunnyhug.games. Weβve been enjoying it, especially the delightful mix of acoustic instruments & synths from @lena.fyi. I love that choice with the Voxel style. Iβm bummed that I canβt seem to complete the QT events at the 1st boss (there are bosses!)
