Also, one final point — the two-way status shouldn't mean all that much. They don't have the financial room (due to first apron) to convert him now, but you can two-way him until he reaches that 50-game maximum, and then they should have room for a pro-rated minimum over the final 30

OTOH, the lagging FT numbers (consistently below 75%) are a bit of a red flag.

Ultimately, he's not gonna be a marksman. You just need him to make enough 3s to where the other aspects of his game — i.e. the ball handling, decision making, defense, etc. — can shine and aren't offset.

There's absolutely a world where a guy who shoots mid 30s in a "volume" role can bump that up to upper 30s if playing in a complementary role.

With that said, shooting has been a liability for him in the past, so it's fair to question if it's sustainable. But last season did offer some real hope

Have seen some question JD Davison’s shooting, so here’s some 2024-25 G League context:

🏀 15 tip-off tourney games, 33.8% on 3s at 5.3 attempts per game
🏀 30 regular-season games, 33.6% on 4.9 attempts
🏀 3 playoff games, 41.7% on 8.0 attempts

It’s a decent sample and not bad, especially at volume!

Always amuses me that the crowd obsessed with "alpha males" has the biggest victim complex you'll ever see. In their minds, everything and everyone is out to get them.
