Well, ideally CH4 is what you're burning in natural gas, of course, but how clean any of it burns is what the 'clean' part means.

Yeah, really, 'clean' refers to any pollutant that *isn't* what you expect when you burn something under the ideal reaction. The cleanest fuel possible still makes as much CO2 and all. 'Burning clean' is still burning. It's possible people are confused on that term or differing.
