I just want some attempt to look at the impact at what is done

I think most people expected bigger, and positive, effects yes.

These trials were good in the scheme of mental health and mental wellbeing trials. Doesn’t mean it couldn’t have been better but methods not the main issue here on this set of trials at least. The issue is almost complete lack of anything else for ages.

EEF only looks at attainment in English and maths (which is fine) but that isn’t and wasn’t the only solution here. I tried for YEARS with both education and health depts to improve standards of even basic monitoring. This is a big failure & with all good intent of course.

That makes more sense; it was a while ago. There was a lot of discussion about methods though! This is what I mean about the method being too robust for the implementation ability. Better to do better pipeline studies and get closer to this step by step. But at least it was done b/c there are issues

This is basically what you see when compared in global perspective. A surprising strength of the UK. The US is a very big outlier. There has been a collapse in trust in the police globally in last 6 years though.

They should all be public as it was a robust trial. Kings pre registered it I think. if anything more robust than is needed but really helps show what’s possible. I have been astonished (and appalled) at how little even basic evaluation there has been in this field despite it being very possible.

Education for wellbeing programme findings Findings from evaluation of mental health interventions in schools.

Good to see these effectiveness studies finally published on emotional and mental health interventions in schools. Finally. The damage done for not looking at impact by so many is quite scary. Not least considering Healthy Minds is already proven at a cost of Β£7.5m www.gov.uk/government/p...

Partly the salience of incidents gets greater when there are fewer of them rather it blending in with the background and adapting. But perspective is useful - when discovering UK is 23 in the world in happiness people think it should be much worse but a look at life in other places would help

Lord Alan Howarth was an inspirational and generous leader on creative health. Working with him on the Board of the National Centre for Creative Health didn’t stop for illness and we have shared some of his legacy here.

Great project from my teams World Risk Poll Into Action grants

Disaster Risk Reduction for households when there are multiple hazards

1) multi hazard thinking getting clearer definitions & integration
2) lived experience + data = better & inclusive planning
3) scale needs tools + capacity

Sort of dizzying to think about how many people are alive today because Patricia Hewitt (ban on smoking in enclosed spaces) was health secretary and because Norman Fowler (mandatory seatbelts) was transport secretary and health secretary (HIV/Aids).

They can often not be yes. The World Risk Poll I run has lots on whether people feel safe vs harm they have experienced. We systematically under worry about workplace injury for example. In the crime data in UK you can see higher concern & SWB impact in lower crime areas because of adaptation
