It's heartbreaking because real people's lives are at stake, but they just do... not... care. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

When having a political discussion, Maga Republicans inevitably resort to two things: personal attacks ("you only have 61 Facebook friends, what a loser!") or deflection ("I don't care about anything you said, let's talk about this instead"). They never engage on the merits of the arguments. Never.

How much of the world's pain, and our own, is caused by people legitimately not caring about other people.

It was nice feeling national pride for a little while thinking we might *actually* help the millions of Americans who are going to lose healthcare. Wtf was it all for. WHY don't Republicans CARE.

One of the unacknowledged advantages of this awful era is that it's revealing for all to see the putrid connections between great wealth and great power.

The intentions of the oligarchs are fully exposed and more blatant than ever.

But remember: We outnumber the oligarchs.

It makes me sad that the things that make me proud are considered pathetic to the world, but oh well. I will still be proud!

Mamdani: "My message to ICE agents & to everyone across this city is that everyone will be held to the same standard of the law. If you violate it, you must be held accountable. There is sadly a sense growing that certain people are allowed to violate that law, whether they be POTUS or ICE agents."

You know what's fascinating? Of all the transgender people I follow on Facebook, NONE have denied they were born a different gender. It's just commenters who feel the need to remind them. And they're like, "Dude I never said I wasn't born a girl. Here's even a picture. But I'm a guy now." ๐Ÿ’—โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’—

Just because not everyone can be Superman or Wonder Woman doesn't mean those things you CAN do are less important!

And oh they are all the sweeter when they are accomplished for real.

You cannot save the world. You cannot make it a fair place. But you can make it a safer and more comfortable place by only portraying to others what you will ACTUALLY DO. And from there you can figure out the avenues to the amazing things you CAN do.

This is why I am angry with self-help gurus. They can do good but mostly just hype people up and do NOT make sure there is a solid foundation beneath. The crash and burn that almost inevitably happens is not accounted for as even a possibility, so terrible damage can be done.

06.11.2025 14:25 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It's not weak to admit you aren't well suited for a task, it is *strength* to be so self-aware. You're amazing and can do amazing things, but cannot skip the work it takes to create a solid foundation to do those things for real. Otherwise all you're doing is harming everyone around you with lies.

This is especially important for people who are sick. Nobody *wants* to be sick, everyone wants to believe they can heal themselves from force of will alone, act as if their symptoms do not exist. But it is FAR braver to be honest with yourself and others at how illness causes limitations.

06.11.2025 14:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Be honest with yourself. Be honest with others. Do not commit to a job or task or person without truly knowing something is possible, not just that you *wish* it was possible.

06.11.2025 14:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Don't try to do something only because you think you "should", because you think you can magically pull yourself "up by your bootstraps". People think they're supposed to be superhuman and only find out later that they're NOT, and that's okay; the only thing not okay is assuring others that you are.

06.11.2025 14:20 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This doesn't mean don't stretch yourself! Challenge yourself to learn and grow, but do so in situations where you won't be harming others if you fail. Failure is a part of life and of growth since it helps us to learn, so it must be accounted for and not ignored like it's never going to happen.

06.11.2025 14:18 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I regularly post about this because it plays such a big role in my life. One of the biggest recurring lessons I've learned is DO NOT commit to do something you are not 100% certain you can do. Why? Because great harm can be done, especially to children.

I think this constant push for immigrants to feel & act โ€˜gratefulโ€™ is so insidious. Letโ€™s change the narrative. Migration is a normal part of human behaviour, not a charity case. If youโ€™re doing your best to do your best, you donโ€™t need to do even more to be accepted. Itโ€™s your right to be accepted.

Beshear: Let me be clear. The president has both the funding and the authority to fund snap during a shutdown. In fact, every other president in every other shutdown has done so. People going hungry in this instance is a choice that this president has made.

Air traffic controllers warn of โ€˜tipping pointโ€™ during shutdown : NPR The government shutdown is taking a growing toll on air traffic controllers who are working without pay. Staffing shortages led to big delays over the weekend, raising concerns about travel chaos.

I really think it's the air traffic controllers that are going to bring Republicans to the table. Not the need of the American people or the reality of skyrocketing healthcare premiums.
