Compared to the rest of everything we know, we are essentially nothing. We don't have to be shitty while being nothing, but we make the conscious choice to be shittier and shittier so we can earn titles and flex "power".

We're the only verified planet with rapists. The only verified planet with perpetual genocides. The only verified planet goose-stepping into ecological collapse. There we are. So tiny, so insignificant, and so fucking painful to one another.

I am there. I don't want to be there.
I am there with billions of other people, many of whom also don't want to be there. Very many other people are there with me/us, and they make being there so miserable we can't help but take stuff seriously.

There is comfort in knowing this will be my last New Year's Eve.
