We were literally watching our community provide a ceremony at the Whipple building.

Hennepin County Sheriff’s then began to escalate tensions. This was disrespectful to our community, our culture, and our ancestors.

This created fear and was an attack on our right to peacefully assemble.

Especially because once you get an eviction on your record it is extremely difficult to find new housing. The best remedy is prevention and the city has the power to make this happen.

Powerful voices may say things like slowing down the eviction machine "does nothing to solve the problem" and this couldn't be further from the truth. Time is a huge factor when it's comes to evictions and more time means more opportunities to raise money to stay in their home.

Join me in calling on the City Council and Mayor to support this effort by testifying at a public hearing of Pause Evictions, Save Lives this Tue 3/3 at 9:30 in the Council Chambers at City Hall (350 S 5th St).

My Council colleagues and I are proposing the ordinance Pause Evictions, Save Lives, which would temporarily change the eviction notice period from 30 days to 60 days. It will be a crucial small step that will give our neighbors a little more breathing room during this crisis.

Our allies at the State legislature are pushing hard for rental assistance funds, but even if we get them, funds won’t be disbursed until July. Our neighbors are going to need more time to fundraise and catch up on rent.

I support and join my Council colleagues in urging for the termination of this contract, and hope that Mayor Frey will take action and respond by March 1st to this resounding request from our shared constituents.

Yesterday I met with a group of constituents that shared their concerns with the City’s investment in this contract, especially right now.

Now, during a time when neighbors are working hard to fundraise and scrape together resources to support each other and avoid an eviction crisis as a result of Operation Metro Surge, it’s so important to be fiscally pragmatic and reduce our budget where possible and needed.

Many Council Members and community leaders have expressed the desire to cut this contract and the Council passed an amendment and resolution urging the Mayor to end it. The next payment is due on April 1st, and notice of termination is required by March 1st.

This week CP Payne sent a letter to Mayor Frey urging the termination of Minneapolis’ contract with Zencity Technologies US Inc. This is an Israeli-founded tech company that has a contract to design a digital survey to measure community perception of MPD and public safety.

We’re asking for your help because it’s the end of the month & our neighbors need assistance. ICE is still here & many neighbors are at risk of eviction. We’ll keep working to ensure government does more to step up, but our neighbors need help now & there’s less mutual aid coming in than before.

yesterday my school lost one of our beautiful 9th grade students. a message & ask from one of my colleagues:

I sued Fleet Farm after they endangered Minnesotans by ignoring clear warning signs and selling guns to straw buyers. The warning signs that Fleet Farm ignored were so clear that Fleet Farm went on to use those sales as examples of obvious red flags in internal trainings.

We had $18k in rent requests come in just today (so far).

We’re anticipating needs at our neighborhood school to be over $100k again this month, but this time donations are WAY down. We don’t have enough money to cover everyone.
