The Rattling in the Floors
It was upon a moonless eve in the dying breath of autumn that I first heard the rattling beneath my floor. A faint, hollow clatter—metallic yet unmistakably osseous—issued from the basement as though some skeletal choir had been stirred from its slumber.
Ghosts.
She lingers between realms hush—a sigh, a whisper, a pale suspicion of form.
No one sees her, though all sense she is there.
She hides like a ghost who rather enjoys it.
