Anti-theist, Anti-capitalist. I always support the people being invaded and the people being oppressed rather than the invaders and oppressors. Just a weird quirk! Profile avatar by @namioshiro.bsky.social‬.

"The Trump White House, for it's part, is cackling—sometimes literally—about the turn of events. Two White House officials, and two other Trump advisers, could barely contain their giddiness when asked by Zeteo about the latest instance of the Democratic elite capitulating to Trump. Multiple Trump aides and allies kept gratuitously using terms such as "losers" and "pussies" as they revelled in the relief from a shutdown that even President Trump acknowledged was getting Republicans "killed" politically.

Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.

Tim Sweeney is absolutely right. It could totally transform gaming from being something I enjoy, into being a whole ass industry-wide garbage fire. Does @steampowered.com have an "AI Assets & Voice acting" hide toggle in search, yet? If not, it needs one.

I'm thinking today of all my fellow veterans but especially the more than 5,000 trans service members and their families who were kicked out of the military this year despite being highly qualified and serving honorably. This injustice will be a stain on our nation's history.

Im surprised the states are as light as they are, even in 2024. I think we'll be tinged more toward red each year for the next 3 years- at least.

Geoff Keighley really is the perfect representative of the gaming industry:
-unreservedly self serving
-pretends to care about the people actually making the product
-loves to make performative gestures that ultimately go nowhere and help no one
-would almost certainly sell out to the saudis

In my own games I made for my friends, I always went with species over "race," because "race" has never been a real thing. kingdom-phylum-class-order-family-species.

Race is some fucking nonsense.

I am, at least partially, one of the subset of people they talk about in the article who think modern D&D is oversimplified- but opening up the rules and eliminating arbitrary racial limits was something we already did with our house rules. It was always nonsense.

Why Elon Musk Needs Dungeons and Dragons to Be Racist The fantastical roots of “scientific racism”

The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

I do too. In my case though, it actually was bullshit. I'm not sure it still is. Where I work now, me and another older guy are the only ones working one job. The kids either have two jobs or are doing gig economy shit after work. I'm no economist, but things seem more dire than when I was a kid.

None of them save money because there isn't any point- it will never be enough to afford the "big" things. So they have switched to smaller, attainable goals. No amount of beans and rice, as somebody said here, will ever make up the difference. There isn't enough to sacrifice. So they don't bother.

My observations of younger co-workers and children of friends, is that they have given up on ever achieving the big things. None of them expect to ever be able to own a house. None of them expect to ever have a career at all- just jobs that eventually, inevitably, lay them off.
