i'm taking this opportunity to test out clip studio from the laptop with some procreate brushes i use. i dunno what it is about the pressure/stabilization on sai vs csp but my brain is just not processing the latter as well as i would like. i'm going to try to keep practicing...

tested her out a bit on xiv at max settings... she barely ever dropped below 100 frames even in limsa, which in a post-graphics update world is far better than the 45 fps and weird stuttering issues i was having on the 3070 after 7.0...

she has arrived!!!! my rog ally is called “gamegirl” and this 18-inch laptop had a very gba sp shape… so we have decided to name this one “gamegirl advance sp”

sometimes i wish they still made gaming laptops like funny little jet engines. my rog from 2015 was this but she lasted a whole 6 years without too many issues or dying and i loved her dearly… i mostly replaced her because the gpu was old and she’d crash at the sight of ishgard restoration crowds

today in my new computer quest i narrowed down my laptop spec options, only to learn that they’re putting liquid metal into recent gaming laptops for more efficient cooling, with its own unique set of technical risks and went down the research rabbit hole and now i feel like this guy

if you want to listen to any of this, the one song i was looking for for YEARS was called そよ風に乗せて and played during boy events. while it's likely nostalgia talking it's one of the most moving string/piano pieces i have ever heard in a game and i feel like it's a crime it was consigned to THIS SERIES

regardless, you still get these beautiful piano/string pieces mixed with 2010s technopop. grandiose event themes that sound like they should just be battle themes in a mid-aughts low-budget wii RPG. there's a song where i thought "huh. i could see this in mario party 1." (which mitsuda composed for)

anyway the game's story was extremely stupid but the tl;dr is that there are boys representing every yamanote line stop in tokyo. you can date them. ANYWAY yasunori mitsuda's studio/colleagues worked on the ost. mitsuda himself did not compose but is credited as "sound producer" for this series.

recently i rediscovered an otome game ost from 2010. i played the game when i was still studying japanese on my own, so i started listening to the ost today for some work tunes. but i have to stop for a moment because i need to mention that the tokyo yamanote boys ost goes far harder than it should.

anyway if you or someone you know uses a 17-18 inch gaming laptop and think it’s pretty cool lemme know!! i have one in mind already but i am open to suggestions…

dead laptop update: we pinpointed that the 3070 was fried but ryan managed to launch in safe mode and get all the important data and art and stuff. i am very glad we could salvage everything we needed!!!! i was so stressed about it…

yeah… we’re trying to salvage the data but dell made it especially difficult to do this so we dunno if anything’s gonna make it out of there alive… i’m trying to look on the bright side of getting a new pc now that i will require a better gaming laptop but i will miss the alienware… and windows 10….

my achy post-vaccine self: “ok! feeling icky today but i gotta turn on the laptop and do my mabinogi dailies”

the alienware, 15 minutes later: “hey. it’s been real. me and the 3070 had a good four years. but i’m gonna have a display failure and beep loudly and die. thanks for everything.”

i'm really not into anime/manga much anymore but i will forever appreciate that sui ishida writes stuff like tokyo ghoul and choujin x and then also goes, "guys. guys you have to check out my passion project otome world of reverse takarazuka theater sickos (endearing) with supernatural undertones."

stuck in bed post-vaccines so i watched a jack jeanne side story about the onyx class from a while back and it's cute... these were minor-ish characters in the game/it takes place a year before the game but it's nice see to how much care ishida gives all his theater guys.

i remember waking up and checking the official discord one day not long ago and seeing “yay congrats on our first level 1 million player!!” and had to take a moment to really consider it… the game IS 20+ years old so like!!! sure!!! i guess!!!! but that doesn’t make it any easier to fathom!!!!

in case you are wondering "43,000-ish" is not a made up level. that is her real cumulative level. i think most real endgame players who have played for a while are probably 100k+-ish...? they even had their first player on NA reach cumulative level 1mil recently. it's a weird game.

also i gotta figure out if my usual pencil brush is going to cut it. i do LIKE the effect it gives but i feel like with darker colored backgrounds and some types of coloring it can look a bit too sketchy. just plain lines seem a bit boring though... will have to experiment a bit more.

stayed up too late doing a small proof of concept for portraits/expressions and implementing them... i think i'd prefer to do a few different poses rather than a standard one with different expressions, but it'd probably be feasible to do a few expressions per pose...

i know miami is one of the more well-received levels in the series so i'll probably go back and try it from a few other angles/mission stories. i have also heard that the next 2 levels (colombia/mumbai) are a bit divisive so i am interested to see if i end up liking them...

got inspired to play hitman again after wayne streamed his vr run so i started hitman 2. miami was far easier than i anticipated it being??? it looked really overwhelming at first but i am glad that was not the case. plus agent 47 got to do most of the mission in a flamingo suit.

oooh that’s a good question… i’ve not seen ingredients for them around even at international grocers so i think i’d probably have to make a sort of substitute version from scratch with panko or something instead of matzah meal. might be fun to experiment with at some point though!!

their soup and pasta-related selection is pretty darn good but unfortunately their yaki-imo is b-tier at best… soft but not as naturally sweet and pudding-y as it could be. no yaki-imo has topped the local don quijote’s yet

i have enough veggies to make another batch of chicken soup so i went to another local store to get more noodles since i was already out on a few errands…and they have shell noodles!!! the ideal chicken soup noodle!!! for a decent price!!!!! i gotta go there more often…

lately i have started giving nova a little fang when i draw her because she is a type of creature. she has always been this (except for very early sketches of her that were more elf-aspected that i scrapped), but i am getting more of a feel for what kind of creature she is, i think.
