She is known as a pop/avant garde artist. Some of her stuff is really hard to get into but this album is her most accessible. It’s one of those records that just clicks into place after you have played it a few times.

Well this is strange. I was just watching this only a few weeks ago. From the superb, "American Folk Blues Festival" DVD series. Worth it for Howlin Wolf's "Shake For Me" alone. Excellent stuff.

Incidentally I tried to introduce my brother to Tom Waits and he didn’t like him either. I was most disappointed!!!

I’m old enough to have discovered The Beatles by myself. Well me and my brother actually. My parents also liked them. Every record was greeted with tremendous excitement as we couldn’t wait to see what they came up with next. I have very happy memories of hearing these songs when they came out

Better late than never. “She’s Leaving Home” is a lost forgotten classic. The fact that Macca was able to write songs like this and “For No One” in his early to mid 20’s. Such wisdom for one so young.

Innaresting. They are the holy grail of pop music for me. I'm intrigued by why you struggled with them....I'm afraid I'm terribly biased and territorial where they are concerned but I am always willing to listen to other people's opinions..

It was originally regarded as "self indulgent" but it's a wonderful album that highlights Crosby's eclectic talents. Pity he didn't make a follow-up though the Graham Nash & David Crosby album is also worth checking out....

I'm exploring Talk Talk at the moment. Haven't got to this record yet. I'm stuck on "The Colour Of Spring" though I have a feeling that the later albums are going to be more to my taste.....

The follow-up may be even better....

First saw her in Woody's "Play It Again Sam" and was instantly smitten. She was the best foil for Woody's neurotic characters and her comic timing was second to none. If "Annie Hall" was Woody's best film, she was the main reason for it's success.

Emotionally beautiful......original is pretty darn good too.

Who else on BBC radio would follow Barclay James Harvest with Ray Charles? 😄

Sorry to be a know-it-all but Dr.Feelgood got their name from another song called "Doctor Feelgood" recorded in 1964 by Johnny Kidd & The Pirates. Wilko was a huge fan of Mick Green, the Pirates guitar player...... 😀😀

It's an important album. Shows maturity both lyrically and musically. If you can, listen to the album again by concentrating on the production and the arrangements and you'll get some idea as to where Wilson is heading....
