Newly retired Music fanatic. Local music historian. For previous 5 years managed the oldest Arts Centre in the UK but I'm not sure how that happened.

28.09.2025 12:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sorry to be a know-it-all but Dr.Feelgood got their name from another song called "Doctor Feelgood" recorded in 1964 by Johnny Kidd & The Pirates. Wilko was a huge fan of Mick Green, the Pirates guitar player...... ππ

25.09.2025 17:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wot no D J Shadow?
25.09.2025 15:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0One of my favourite songs......ever.
23.09.2025 17:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's an important album. Shows maturity both lyrically and musically. If you can, listen to the album again by concentrating on the production and the arrangements and you'll get some idea as to where Wilson is heading....
23.09.2025 08:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs a great book. Bought a copy!
21.09.2025 21:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0My memory is failing me. Was it you?
21.09.2025 20:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This begs another question. Have you toured with that book? If so we may have met. I booked someone to promote it at my local Arts Centre in Bridgwater when I used to manage it. It was about 2 or 3 years ago. The very same Centre that I saw Jake atβ¦
21.09.2025 20:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I have the 2 CD set of βLive Performanceβ. Did you write the book βBeware Of The Bullβ? It was that someone else? Sorry if Iβve got you mixed up with someone else.
21.09.2025 19:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I grew up with Thackray via his appearances on The Braden Beat. All my family loved his wit. He was the first person I ever saw perform live. That was at my local Arts Centre with my parents. 1976 I think it was. Glad that he is appreciated a lot more than he was when he was alive.
21.09.2025 18:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hi Cerys. Spooky synchronicity strikes again. I had an inkling you would play some Jake Thackray today.... Weird..
21.09.2025 09:09 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I'm in........
14.09.2025 09:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'd put that track in my Top 10 Beach Boys songs...it's a wonderful piece of music....
10.09.2025 12:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Blimey. Iβve been there to see Laura Cantrell twice. Weird to see the advertisements for the bingo on the notice board beforehand. Whatever happened to Joanna Newsom anyway? Can you remember who the main act was?
07.09.2025 17:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I saw Joanna at the Colston Hall (as it was called then) with Roy Harper as support. Memorable.
07.09.2025 17:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I went to see Robyn Hitchcock in Bristol once and was a MONTH early!π
07.09.2025 12:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Looking forward to next week Cerys. I think I own pretty much every book that Peter Guralnick has written. BTW what are the chances of getting Gwenifer Raymond on your show? A spellbinding Welsh acoustic guitarist... Thx
07.09.2025 11:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hi Cerys! Good to have you back.
07.09.2025 09:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nice choice! If it were me I would go for Dylan, Revolver, Otis, Emma and.......Abbey Road? Like you said tough to pick out just 5.
06.09.2025 11:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0But if you did that, whose gonna write songs as wonderful as "When A Good Man Cries?".
02.09.2025 19:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Smiley Smile will seem like a disappointment after youβve heard Smile but thatβs to be expected. Quirky little record though.
30.08.2025 10:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Slightly controversial but I actually think Wilsonβs Smile is better than the Capitol version as itβs more complete. Incidentally Iβll send you something that I think is a lost gem from 69/70. A track called βBeen So Longβ that Wilson never finished. Thereβs a 7 min version thatβs just incredible.
30.08.2025 10:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Track down the Smile Sessions, Smiley Smile, Beach Boys Today, Summer Days and Summer Nights and Wild Honey. Plenty of good stuff there. Friends, 20/20 and Carl and The Passions have their moments too. Love to know what you think.
30.08.2025 10:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have a friend whoβs a Beach Boys nut. I think βSurfs Upβ is his favourite as well. Not sure whether youβve got as far as βHollandβ but thatβs a really good album as well. After that it tails off dramatically.
30.08.2025 10:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Fantastic album. Can't agree with your "Pet Sounds" comment though. In my opinion It's the finest album ever made. I've had the chance recently to go through every BB record up to "Holland" and as much as the Wilson's Carl & Dennis contributed to their albums it's Big Brian's input that inspires.
30.08.2025 09:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Loving the new album Ron. Great to see you working with Robbie McIntosh. Had the pleasure of booking him last year. Great guy and wonderful guitarist.... Playing the album for the 2nd time in succession.
30.08.2025 09:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Dennis Morris exhibition ticket booked.
03.08.2025 11:24 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ribot is unquestionably one of the finest guitarists out there. Such a passionate and inventive player. Was lucky enough to catch him at the Hague Jazz Festival with Los Cubanos Postizos....
