In terms of how, the mechanism via which IPA relates to violent extremism is exposure, where men who perpetrate IPA actively seek out and inadvertently come into contact with people, places, or settings, both online and offline, which share their worldview, including their attitudes towards women.

We found that men who had perpetrated intimate partner abuse scored higher on measures of susceptibility to violent extremism. In terms of why, our results suggest the overlap is rooted in the underlying gendered attitudes towards violence against women which can underpin both types of violence.

IPA is increasingly linked to violent extremism in public discourse and high-profile case studies. Traditional divisions between 'private' violence and 'public' violence are being challenged. This study explores whether and how IPA relates to susceptibility to violent extremism.

We synthesise learning from academia, inspection reports, and serious case reviews to identify barriers and facilitators to systems working to prevent serious youth violence.

A systems approach considers how children and families experience different systems of support, and how these systems work together to prevent serious youth violence. However, we know little about how systems act together to prevent or expose children and young people to serious youth violence.

Our new report looks at how systems of support available to young people and their families work to prevent or expose young people to serious violence.
