Never heard anything about this myself, but that's perhaps not surprising as I've never worked on the Minecraft development team, and wouldn't be the one to share any possible WIP or cut feature details.

Although the direction humanity takes in part of book 1 is a liiiittle on the nose for modern events. The writing has been on the wall for 40 years or so, I suppose.

The movie meant that more people got to see and engage with Minecraft. Player numbers went up. Successful movie means franchise longevity. Wishing the movie would fail because you care about the game is an incredibly rudimentary way of thinking about it that you can afford, but we cannot.
