Pretty sure the drawbar on the Dexta hasn’t been off since it was installed in 1959. Just a few flakes of red oxide hanging on. Absolutely solid.

4/4 The kestrel had a feed and tolerated the jackdaws having some too. We didn’t catch it being carried off, but when we went to check the camera all traces had gone.

3/4 Bird of prey turns up! Think this is a Kestrel. We see these quite regularly alongside short eared owls. Eagles fly past now and again too. It was being very careful to make sure all was safe.

2/4 Couple of jackdaws appear first to check it out. Think the bird doing a flyby is a curlew - the one with the long curved beak.

1/4 Found a dead rabbit recently so we took it to the back of the croft and left it for the birds. Curious about what would take it, so we set up a trail camera… #Wildlife #Nature #Carrion

The chicks have graduated to the shed! They will stay here for a few weeks while they acclimatise and grow into their massive feet. Then they go outside to the young team pen #ScotsDumpy #Crofting

Eòghann Maclachlainn: The Muileach who loved life and his garden in South Uist The 91-year-old was a crofter, war veteran, teacher and champion of the Gaelic language.

Very tidy job by the MOD\Qinetiq at their former base in Balivanich. They’ve spent months deconstructing and processing materials on site. Looked like a lot has been salvaged and recycled.

This gate has seen some action. When I was about her age I saw a cow leap over and get stuck. The cow was fine but the gate never fully recovered. Still works though! #Crofting #Uist 🐂
