Layering the background for the ghostly, ethereal landscape took days. Several brushes failed to survive the voyage.

Every now and then, I pick up a smooth, framed wood plank on which to paint.
It's a completely different feeling than painting on canvas or gesso.
I liken it to sipping smooth red wine instead of sharp bourbon.
