It doesn't really come through on screen (and arguably DS9 is better for it), but in-universe Dukat has off-the-charts Mamdani-level charisma.

Seriously, it is easy to laugh now, but there was a real fear that this could collapse law firms. Clients and attorneys can leave at any time. No long-term contracts. No non-competes.

Jenner, Susman, Wilmer, and Perkins deserve so much credit, as do those that stepped in to defend.

As much as I was looking forward to seeing Elizabeth Prelogar, Don Verrilli, and Paul Clement take turns dunking on these orders in front of a D.C. Circuit panel, this is good news.

PSA: "Ayatollah" is a religious title, not a political office. Khamenei was Supreme Leader but not an Ayatollah. Khomeini was both.

Has any theory in military theory been more discredited than deep battle?

Turns out you can just kick in the door, and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down.

Ah, I didn't even know about the City Canal, other than vague knowledge that the entire SW/Tidal Basin area was low-lying wetland. On the other hand the image has some elevation to it (notably the bridge) that doesn't really fit topographically. I really don't know!

If it is on the C&O (as inclusion in the Federal Triangle pamphlet suggests), then my best guess is at the Tidewater Lock end where the Watergate is now. That area has changed radically.

Alexandria Canal (Virginia) - Wikipedia

I bet this is not the C&O Canal but the (long since filled in) Alexandria Canal on the other side of the river. It doesn't look like any spot on the C&O I can imagine. If it is then fill has radically changed the area now.

In other words the post is a weird kind of dormant judicial supremacy.

The part I don't like is the elision from "no court will enforce this law" (correct) to "law is irrelevant" (incorrect). If 51 senators or 51 million people think presidents shouldn't have the power to make war, it is not illegitimate (much less irrelevant) to frame that argument in legal terms.

I understood the piece in purely descriptive terms, as if to throw his hands up at the whole thing, rather than an assertion that pure presidentialism is good or inevitable. Though even if that understanding is correct then the shot at Congress at the end is something different.

This draft Trump EO on voting is even nuttier than you imagined. Zeroing out all voter rolls and making everyone re-register in person. Mandatory annual online re-registration. Requiring anyone casting an absentee ballot to find a notary. No dropboxes. All post-election disputes federalized. 😟

Surely an insult later co-opted as a badge of honor by a little known separatist movement in Picardie.

Seedlings of hope sprout for Ocklawaha River restoration | Opinion A local environmental advocate reports progress as Florida lawmakers push to restore the Ocklawaha River by breaching the Rodman Dam.
