This seems profoundly unwise, Clemson's booster program is well protected in underground bunkers and, even if successful, strikes are likely to lead to unpredictable reprisal attacks against American interests across the SEC.

There's a convincing historical argument that the completely unreasonable success of the German invasion of France in 1940 was the pivotal event of the century because it convinced Hitler Barbarossa was possible (and that he should declare war on the USA). High on their own supply.

It’s fucked up that Han Solo won’t talk to Jabba in the Hutt language, which he clearly understands. You owe the slug money but you’re microsgressing him.

Going to need a cabinet-level Dept of Euphemisms to keep up with the demand. Or we could outsource to Mockheed or Metaphorp Grumman.

When the court has one injunction against you, it’s your problem. When the court has a thousand injunctions against you, it’s the court’s problem.

Now *maybe* there are private messages to Iran that do give offramps, and the public messages are just bluster. We don't see everything. But a) who are those messages going to? and b) it matters that everyone in Iran getting only the public messaging thinks the conflict is existential.

06.03.2026 15:41 β€” πŸ‘ 8    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Acknowledging that conflict is existential from a position of strength (1865, 1945) might be good: it tells everyone what the stakes are. But saying it to look tough, or to cover for not having a plan in a limited conflict is foolish in the extreme. Closes every path except greater violence.

Killing the other side's leader and demanding unconditional surrender makes negotiation both impossible and pointless. If so, then the downside of escalation goes away, and the conflict becomes existential.
