The really great part about Hellebuyck’s incredible performance under pressure today is that he shows he’s really gonna be ready for a deep Jets playoff run this year.

Ian was driving on Henderson at lunch time and said at least 3 cars blew passed him at speeds of probably 80. Was wondering what the hell was going on and we told him; oh they’re mad their team lost at sportsball, and also probably drunk.

I rode up portage about 30 minutes before the Santa Claus parade this year and it was amazing.

Motonormativity is totally fucked, and honestly disgusting from the ground up (like many other systems) when you start to deconstruct it.

It’s a perverse and twisted system. Horrifically oppressive; and (of course) that disproportionately impacts the working poor, women and POC; in particular indigenous folks.

An indigenous pedestrian is 6 times as likely to be killed through vehicular violence than someone who looks like me.

In North America, 50,000 people are killed per year in motor vehicle collisions; the vast majority of them operating their own vehicle while they were participating and perpetuating in the cruel system which eventually took their life from them.

I think given time, effort and awareness; culturally - we can begin to feel as morally repulsed by the way people operate their vehicles in urban environments generally as we do today about other reprehensible behaviours.

For the most part people would treat it as just one of those things that we can’t do too much about because it is what it is - the same way we often ( collectively) currently often feel about vehicular violence.

This is not to say they’re the same, because nothing is exactly the same; but I will simply say that there was a time (not all that long ago) where domestic partner abuse was so totally normalized and even almost expected in some cultural circumstances.

The toxicity of so many other systems is reverberated into and in times multiplied in autonormative culture.

It truly is a horrifically abusive and oppressive system, and culturally a massive blind spot because we often don’t even consciously appreciate how horrific it is.
