Freshwater pearls enclosed in a pentagram, pink, grey, and teal. Bracelet is draped over a branch.

Text says: There once was a little parasite, ok a lot of little parasites, they love the ocean. Passively hunting, like invisible vampires, they slip on currents of water-breath into an unsuspecting oyster. Oysterflesh is sensitive, maybe more so than even a fairytale princess’, so the little vampire parasite, taking microscopic nibbles, hurts. Once, an oyster heard a story from a fisherman about immurement, when a person, or perhaps their shadow, is walled up inside a new building, for favorable auspices in the future. So the oyster, aching inside from a parasite it can’t remove, begins to immure the hungry intruder. Layer by layer of fine crystalline calcium carbonate soon becomes a beautiful tomb for the unlucky little parasite. The oyster, feeling much better, told all the other oysters about this cure. These mummified parasites are quite beautiful and make a pretty trinket for a lucky human. Now of course, the pearls in this bracelet are cultured, freshwater pearls, but it’s a nice story anyway.

Look like you’re wearing an entombed parasite without all the guilt. Check out my cultured freshwater pearls and pentagram bracelet on Ko-Fi.

Read at open mic at Jarrod's Coffee, Tea and Gallery this Past Sunday. Reading the creepies aloud is fun! Got some cool little earrings there too. Just posted this new one on Substack-

I love the ending of this article: Maybe, just maybe, β€œflirting” with independence doesn’t require public scandal or divorce. It might be exactly what marriage gives you back when you’ve given up nearly everything to hold it together.

Awesome little coffee shop in Mesa Arizona called Jarrod's Coffee, Tea, & Gallery where I participated in a poetry open mic. Coincidentally, I'm told the place is haunted.
