hii spicetify here! powerful customization tool for spotify ⸜(。 ˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡ - themes, extensions and more. official bluesky account
I did not say anything harshly 🤨
29.07.2025 13:40 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Obviously it removes spicetify. The way it works is that we unpack .spa files which hold files that are used and then patch them. When Spotify updates it brings back the .spa files.
You just have to run `spicetify backup apply` or `spicetify update` afterwards
You’re not boycotting Spotify by using spicetify. Even if you don’t have ads, you’re still a product and they still sell your data to third-party. As long as you use Spotify, you’re going to earn them money.

For example, if there’s a release 1.2.68, it can have many sub-releases that affect backend (the code that controls the playback etc) but it does not affect the frontend. This is simply done to fix bugs they found and it can’t wait until next release
This is not a new information! Lossless was partially in the UI since April 2024 (Spotify 1.2.36)!

Spotify 1.2.66 mentions lossless in more parts of UI 👇

I don’t know why new releases were bugged for you, but this shouldn’t be the case. You have to apply spicetify after modifying config in any way so that’s not really a bookmark’s extension issue. Themes may not be compatible with new spotify versions, and that’s not dependent on us

16.05.2025 20:48 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Spotify has released 1.2.64 which includes the change of v8 snapshot. Meaning, spicetify already supports it and you should be able to use spicetify on that version just fine, however, some custom apps or extensions may be broken due to missing React Components that I will fix when I can

06.05.2025 22:03 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I reported false positives just now to all vendors that flagged `v2.40.5` too, including Norton.
also I think it got flagged as stealer because we look for `v8_snapshot_context.bin` inside Spotify lol and it probably did catch the `Chromium` text inside `Chromium Embedded Framework`
I have released `v2.40.5` which should make antiviruses shut up about spicetify.
tbh, no idea what happened with `v2.40.4` since it was built on GitHub Actions.
To update **spicetify**:
Run `spicetify update`/`spicetify upgrade` or use your package manager and run `spicetify restore backup apply`
Linux version is something they don’t care about really bc they only build it sometimes when some engineer wants to do it lol. So yeah it may be
