I crochet and embroider because I simply have to. Without fiber I would, to quote Carl Carlson, “completely go psycho on all you guys all the time.”

Saturday and Sunday were spent learning and hanging out with my fellow BOMH artists. We had a great time! I won this absolutely fabulous pin cushion by Ruth Walker. I can hold this cushion in my hand and not stab by hand with pins as I quickly push them in because it is thick and wonderful!

After Washington, I headed to Columbia for the Best of Missouri Hands ArtSmart Conference. I got into town early enough to stop by Orr Street Studios to see "Beyond the Deckled Edge," a show by Leandra Spangler and Vicki Smith. This work made me so happy.

Friday, I went to Washington, MO to add some new pieces to Room for Art Gallery. I added scarves and some little magnetic art pieces. These guys are the size of a business card and are great for the fridge, file cabinet, or on any metal object you'd like to dress up!

Room for Art Gallery in Washington, MO is celebrating its 4th anniversary! As part of the celebration, a juror evaluated the pieces in the gallery. I'm honored to have been given a Best 2D award for my piece, "Blooming."

So many words, indeed. I just asked if he had any town halls scheduled for the district. Looks like the answer is no.

I have a piece in "The Illustrated Accordion," an exhibit of accordion books at the Kalamazoo Book Arts Center in Kalamazoo, MI.

My book is called "The Path." I used a piece of silk I dyed with leftover indigo pulp over the summer then added many, many, many stitches.

I finished up the stitching on these three freeform crochet pieces last week. Today, I washed them and pinned them to block. After they dry, they'll get felt backings and be mounted on wood for hanging.
