Really sad to learn of the sudden death of Prof Malcom von Schantz.
I had the fortune to work with Malcolm on a couple of projects and his warmth, knowledge, insight, generosity, kindness and humour were always a welcome addition to any group.
A huge loss to sleep medicine. RIP
We have a 5PA locum consultant post opportunity in the sleep service at Evelina London Children's Hospital

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex-phobia, and Transphobia
The theme this year is "the Power of Communities" to highlight the strength and resilience that emerges from our collective solidarity.
Something much needed in those darkening times

A rainbow graphic showing the date
Today is #IDAHOBIT @may17org.bsky.social.
The international day against homophobia, biphobia, interphobia and transphobia.
As seen in the UK LGBTQIA rights arenβt guaranteed and can regress.
May 17th is a day to stand forward and pledge your support with LGBTQIA people everywhere.
#LoveIsLove
Inclusive Pride flag.
17th May is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia.
The date commemorates the World Health Organisationβs decision in 1990 to remove homosexuality from its classification of diseases.
We exist. We donβt need a cure.

Last year, we were on 52%. Six points dropped in a year.
And politicians are surprised theyβre banned from representing their parties at pride this year.
In 2015, the UK was the leading country on LGBTI human rights in Europe according to IGLA-Europe, with 86%.
In 2025, we have dropped to 46%.
Not surprising, but very concerning, that the UK is dropping down in the relative ranking of European countries based on their advocacy for, and protection of rights, for LGBT+ people
14.05.2025 06:46 β π 8 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0Really pleased to see this HSSIB report published - we've come a long way in the last decade to try to emphasise how much fatigue affects healthcare delivery in the NHS, and how under-recognised this still is
Hopefully this helps encourage further action
(And Shaun one of the very first to help!)
Oh thank you! Glad you enjoyed it π
Hope all good with you!
As the UK gets ready for the annual "spring forward" clock change to BST tonight, a good time to remind that @britishsleepsoc.bsky.social - like most sleep science organisations - advocates for Standard Time (GMT) the whole year round β° βοΈ

Thanks to @steier.bsky.social the text issue on the survey form should now be fixed!
Please do share this survey looking at impact of work (and shift rotations) on sleep with resident doctors, the more data we have the better we can advocate!

"From the early days of HIV advocacy to the ongoing struggles for LGBT+ rights, activists have always faced attempts to silence them - and they have always persisted." Joe Parry. Director of Communications
With LGBT+ rights being challenged across the globe, this yearβs theme of LGBT+ History Month of activism and social change offers an opportunity to reflect on the actions of previous generations and their lessons for today, Joe Parry writes on our website: #LGBTplusHM.
