Hi all! Does anyone know how the decisions are getting made for how much federal funding a university gets cut for supposed infractions? $400M for Columbia. $600M for Hopkins. Now $175M for U Penn.

U.S. leadership in scientific discovery and innovation is at an end. This is not the country my father came to from India as a post-doc in 1968. It is painful to watch every field of science hit with federal funding losses.

It is true! I am working on our friendship registry now so we can get gifts out of it! It will be at Trader Joe’s.

Was thinking about the words they will flag on NSF grants. We could all just organize and make sure we use at least 10 of the words in every grant submitted. It won’t be hard. Words they have flagged include: “barrier”, “excluded”, and “women”.

Absolutely right! This will cost the U.S. in scientific discovery, world class higher education, economic growth, jobs for people at every level of education, and health. It will affect every state, because
universities are lead employers in every state. This will affect lives and livelihoods.
