And to clarify - I don’t really care about the doctor title. Only that a man and woman professional were addressed differently. Either it should be all “doctor” or all “first name.”

Today I got an email.

The sender (not a physician) first addresses the (male) surgeon, “Dr. X, your cases are booked.”

Then sender addresses me. “Hi Emily, can you do the preop for these patients?”

Implicit (explicit?) bias is still very much alive and well. 1/ #anesthesia #anessky

For patients undergoing MAC in outpatient procedures (EGD, cataract, etc), do you allow them to go home without a responsible adult? What are the #patientsafety implications? Many patients don’t have anyone at home or can’t find a ride. #anessky
