And to add to pendulum, like link monsters, they can be summoned from the face up extra deck adjacent to a link monsterโs link arrows!
Link monsters are our finale
To link summon, you essentially tribute monsters to how many link arrows the monsters has and must be summoned either the extra monster zone and/or to a link monsterโs link arrows.
Now we get to pendulum monsters
These cards can be scaled by putting these cards in the pendulum zones and can summon monsters whose levels are within the scales of the pendulum cards used!
However, when destroyed, they go in face up in the extra deck!
Fourth, we got xyz monsters
For starters, they donโt have levels, they have ranks.
To summon, you overlay the required amount of monsters with the same required level.
For example, number 39: utopia requires 2 level 4 monsters to xyz summon!
Third, we got synchro summoning
Synchros act kinda like rituals, except without a ritual spell and arenโt in the main deck.
To synchro summon, you need a tuner monster and a regular monster whose levels add up to the monster you are summoning.
Secondly we got ritual summoning
Essentially what is required for a ritual summon is a ritual spell in hand/field and a ritual monster in hand. Next you tribute monsters in hand/field that add up the levels to summon it
(Follow this because this will essentially work for synchro too)
Letโs start with fusion
Now there is two ways to fusion summon, contact or by using a spell to fuse them together!
An example for these cards are borreload furious dragon!
Now we get to monsters, weโre gonna list all type of monsters
Letโs start with the basics, Normal monsters work as just that, monsters without effects.
Effect monsters have cool effects like the ability to summon other monsters, gain life points or negate effects! (Will explain the last part soon)
Last but not least are trap monsters. These act like traps when set but when activated can become a monster!
For example Tiki Soul can be set and on your opponentโs turn, you can activate it and this card becomes a monster, coming for your defence!
Second up is continuous traps, these act kinda like the continuous spells I talked about earlier.
For example, call of the haunted can summon a monster from your graveyard in attack position!
Starting us off with one is counter traps. These usually are played to counter effects of other cards
An example of this is solemn judgement, this cardโs effect is that it negates a summon or effect, provided you give up 50% of your Life points!
Now, for trap cards!
Here is where we will explain trap cards and how they work. We will start with how trap cards all work in general.
Trap cards canโt be played on the turn they are set, some can but not all. Some can even be activated in the hand depending on the conditions, evenly matched is 1
I did forget something!
However I will talk about it when I talk about summoning styles!
Next up, Trap cards!
Now to end the spells with the normal type.
These are the most basic type, they leave the field when activated and have pretty cool effects! Some even have effects in the graveyard!
For example, pot of greed allows me to draw two cards. However this card is banned, has been for years.
Field cards are next!
Field spells can either just give you a home field advantage, or even just give effects that can turn the game in your favour!
For example, sogen can boost the attack for your warrior and beast-warrior monsters by 200!
Continuous Spell cards are like Spell cards but donโt leave the field unless hit by something that can wipe it away.
Take for example Dark Magic circle, when activated you can take a look through the top three cards on your deck and allow you to grab a card that is or effects dark magician.
Next up are Equip spells. Equip Spells power up your monsters with beneficial effect, an attack power bonus or even can be both.
For example, salamandra, this equip spell can power up fire monsters by 700 attack points.
There are 5 types, Quick play, Field, Continuous, Equip and normal.
Letโs start with Quick play.
Quick play can be activated in the hand or on the field like regular spells, except with a bonus.
They can act like trap cards and be activated on your opponentโs turn!
So weโre gonna start a new segment on games:
How to play Yu-gi-oh!
First thing weโll talk about are spell cards as I do think itโs pretty easy to talk about.
In the next couple entries will talk about the different types of spells.
