At the arcade today - did you know, OutRun still rules? Incredible stuff.

Three illustrations of the titular protagonist from the 1981 Universal arcade game, Lady Bug, dressed as other artists' interpretations of the character. From left to right: the original artwork for the European Coleco/Intellivision releases of the game (closest to the original Kohtani artwork, albeit lacking most of the "insect" characteristics), the 3D model seen in the Ultracade menu (another humanoid interpretation, which depicts her as blonde, hence her saying "I don't think blonde is really my color..." in this piece), and the artwork from a later European CV/IV revision that depicts her simply as a cartoon ladybug, which is interpreted closer to a kigurumi/onesie. Pictures of the interpretations are included directly next to the drawings. Also present at the bottom-left of the piece is a crude, quick sketch of Mr. Do! going "everybody look at my wife RIGHT NOW".

Tom Petit (1955-2017)

Initially joining Atari as a young gun, Petit made his mark at companies like Data East before eventually heading Sega's US arcade division.

Games like Hang-On and Virtua Fighter came out under his watch. Later he headed Vivendi's video games efforts.

I love going to almost-derelict malls and stumbling upon somewhat rare arcade machines, like this Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 in my hometown's most forgotten shopping centre.

I love that the final boss of "Dead Angle" is literally just some guy... *who happens to be behind bulletproof glass* (!) it's like that Mitch Hedberg routine about a wall being the most formidable opponent you can face in tennis
