wolfman zapp was the mascot of zapp’s bar & grill, created by nolan bushnell in 1983 as a more “adult” alternative to chuck e. cheese. only 3 wolfmans were made and his showtapes never resurfaced…so it was pretty strange to see him strapped to a truck in a local parade one day.

Went to the computer history museum for the first time! Very cool. They had a special tournament for one of the first video games ever, SpaceWar!

My date managed to get a stable orbit around the sun, which impressed one of the original devs who was there. :3

proper game center ambiance practically requires the sega tetris attract mode to be playing at high volume. i just need to take up chainsmoking already.

the klax hand is one of those triumphs of design that went largely unexploited. the hand shape has nothing to do with the game at all it just looks cool and made you go look at the arcade cabinet

i like that the final boss has this attack where he inexplicably grows a second pair of gigantic legs which reach across most of the screen

I had a talk with Ben from lizardcube (mostly) about Shinobi: art of vengeance. We got into the weeds about background vs foreground art and combat system philosophies.
