I've seen discourse surrounding artists "peaking" at 30 and I just want to say don't fall for that trap!
I'll be 45 this year and I don't think I've ever been more resolute about my work.
Existence and perseverance is art; you can not PEAK yourself. Every iota of creation you make is a miracle.☄️

"Artists peak at 30", "30 under 30", "by 30 you should" ridiculous. Arts industries capital craves young people to exploit and burn out. It doesn't want older artists thriving and guiding the young. It also doesn't want artists to exist. Stop letting cannibals tell you you only matter on a plate.

Aquí algunos pasos del proceso. Desde la cera montada, en proceso, pero sin detalles, hasta el.resultado con todas las ventosas. Montada y sin montar la piedra, tanto en cera como en bronce.

El encargo. La piedra es un jaspe de kambaba, que viene a ser lecho marino prehistórico fosilizado. Los tentáculos que la rodean están hechos a mano, en cera, sobre la piedra. Luego se desmonta, se funde la cera a bronce y, después de dar acabados, se engarza la piedra.🐙

La cera puede manipularse en trocitos? O tienes que tallarla de un bloque entero? Me parece todo esto fascinante cuando lo enseñas xD

Last year I decided to put my health first and take an extended break from paid illustration. I found I had an inexplicable compulsion to document all the birds I can see from my house in the most time consuming way possible.

I love the textures ballpoint brings to drawings - but it fades soooo quickly even stored correctly. Are there any ballpoint options with archival quality ink?

The man reaches one hand to back to caress the satyr's face, the other presses the satyr's hand to his chest. There's some circular celtic knotwork designs on the borders. The overall colors are warm golds and browns.

Finally finished this up! It's done in watercolor, gouache, and color pencils. I know I should try to render it in more detail but I'm not sure I want to. I like the texture being able to be textures. Maybe that will change in the future. For now, though, I like it 😅

Absolutely better, hold in there. Once it clicks you'll only want to get older and older!
