I hear you. Speaking as a game publisher, I don't consider any of that stuff a "cog" (cog-using industrial mentality is toxic and I do my best to avoid it), but I do see the creative work as primarily living in specific phases of the overall lengthy multi-phased pipeline from concept to release!

While I'd suggest that "execution" also includes (most of) the effort of creatives in that overall described process — yep, pretty much this.

People aren't supposed to lie under oath, right? And yet, law enforcement does, every day, all the time, paving the way for Pamela Jo Bondi to outright lie in a congressional hearing.

I hear people say to "make lying bad again" and the place to start is law enforcement, a class of people who lie on the regular and it is perfectly legal. Nothing happens to police and prosecutors when they lie. Where we are now was paved with the impunity of law enforcement.

Thread. Elite accountability is hard, but not impossible. This is the most acute form--criminal wrongdoing. There are other processes for policy or governing debacles (congressional oversight, a thing we used to do; political costs, ditto). Not fast or easy, but processes that need revitalizing.
