As an update to this, they apologized for their comments, withdrew the statement, and issued a correction.

Lately, there's been a wave of otherwise politically moderate people falling for propaganda like this, then apologizing when they realize that's what's happened. I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt, rather than assuming that only intrinsically evil people can fall for propaganda.

Once saw a game where 0 was the first item type, and an empty slot was instead represented as -1. When the game tried to get the stats for an empty slot, it pulled from bytes whatever happened to be before the stats array in memory.
