Conclusion for July: Burn out hit hard, but I should be up and at them again in August!

In my downtime I've playing lots of ZZZ. Also I've gotten back into drawing again, doing quick sketches from reference as often as I can. Focussing on "get it out there and then make it good later", I just did this Ren sketch and it turned out better than I thought it would!

While not auditioning or training, I did manage to record for all my outstanding gigs so I feel very happy about that! Also I have finally delved into the world of cold emails... it still feels really awkward sending them out but hopefully I get more comfortable with it.

The month started with several nights on stage as Dr Watson in Hound of the Baskervilles! This was great fun and it was very sad to say goodbye to the character I had been rehearsing since March. One thing I won't miss however is wearing a full suit in 30+ heat - big oof!

I feel this was my burnout month. After having a great time performing on stage, and after an unbearable UK heatwave I was pretty much exhausted. I usually audition in the evening and I was finding on most nights that my energy was just gone!

Got a busy 2 weekends coming up, performing as Dr Watson in Hound of the Baskervilles with my local theatre! We're playing in the Forest of Dean - If you're local why not book some tickets?

Conclusion - Took a slight hit due to the heat but still putting in the work. Bring on July!

Highlight - The Improvologue class was mid-heatwave, so when it was my turn to perform I was drenched in sweat which stung my eyes! Maybe that added something to my character? Who knows lol.

Training - Attended Improvologue with @redscythe.com and Julie Maddalena - I highly recommend this class if you see it advertised! It was great watching how this process changed actor performances within minutes! I've been using this process in most of my auditions going fowards.

Auditions - The heat beat me! I was on a roll and then a heatwave turned the booth into an oven. I record in the evenings usually but due to the heat I was too exhausted to do anything. We're in the middle of another heatwave this week but I'm hoping to push through!

Originally I intended to do some form of acting exercise every day, however its been hard to find the time over the past month! I've taken daily exercises off as a goal but may revisit it in future.

Conclusion - Not much in terms of new roles but a lot of practice and training has been achieved this month. Lets keep it going and aim for more big wins!

Training - Attended a gacha game workshop, and this helped to highlight that I need to study character archetypes. I've added it to my goals to research a new archetype each month. If I find casting calls for them then I'll definitely audition for them with my new knowledge!
