This is he 2nd time ZS has highlighted trans ppl in YP. I think she knows we're feeling alienated from it. But she's one person. It's not just the leadership. YP FB groups are awash w/transphobia. What's the point in joining a party that, from a trans perspective, feels no different to Labour?

I'm not "trashing political struggle as a concept". I'm saying I have no interest in joining a political party just to have to battle yet more prejudice from the ground up to the top. If I wanted to have endless internal political struggle for basic acceptance I'd join Reform.

I'm not alone in thinking that YP currently presents as a deeply unwelcoming party for trans ppl. It's simply a fact that transphobes are in key leadership positions. Pretending that isn't the case helps nobody.

I'm not trashing their efforts. Good luck to them.

Are all the trans ppl who highlight all the issues w/labour transphobia engaged in harmful behaviour trashing the efforts of labour for trans rights? Are we not allowed to criticise any party if they have trans ppl working to make them better?

B/c ZS is *one person*.
The Greens have recognised transphobia as an issue & taken steps to address it organisationally. YP leadership is weighted in favour of transphobia from the outset. TLG's demands are worthless given they'll have an uphill battle just to get basic acceptance in YP.

Green have ongoing issues w/transphobia, but at least recognise it, have made steps to address it & have & pro-trans leadership. That makes them more appealing than joining a party that's setting itself up as being hostile from the outset.

I think that's the wrong question. TLG can "demand" whatever they like, fact remains YP leadership is mostly hostile to their existence from the outset & is set to agitate directly against even accepting trans ppl, let alone endorsing trans liberation.

The fact trans ppl have to fight within the party is ample illustration as to why we're best off avoiding YP altogether.

W/ transphobes like Adan Hussain & Mark Serwotka committed to making it a hostile environment for us from the outset it's just another endless, exhausting struggle we don't need

More to the point, why are you expecting us to fall behind a party that doesn’t even exist yet and may or may not support trans people but looking more towards not over a party that definitely does exist, definitely does support trans people and is currently polling in second place?

Okay but Greens are doing amazing on trans rights and are open to feedback. They're actively collaborating with trans people to form messaging and policy. They're not having to be pressured into it.

Tim Davie, according to sources actually in the meetings, is not pro trans. He isn't anti trans, no. But he doesnt understand or want to advance trans issues in any meaningful way & the rise of transphobia in the BBC can be attributed more to a lack of action rather than any direct decision making.

I was once given a list of bigots at the BBC. About 20-30 of them in senior positions who had openly supported bigotry.

Not a single one, to my knowledge, ever faced any consequence or real pushback. Neither on their actions or their clearly successful attempts to sway the agenda more bigoted.
