On a broader level, we cannot allow the outcomes of a foreign country’s election to dictate global politics every four years and act as the watchdog over the rest of the world. There must be a shift away from American dominance, and it has to start in small ways like this.

This isn’t meant to virtue signal to anyone, and in the grand scheme of our capitalist society, it will make no impact. But for us, it comes down to principle. We teach our boy to always stand up to bullies, so we will practise what we preach—even if it feels like a David vs Goliath scenario.

So, as a household, we decided today to take a preemptive step before any crazy #Trump #tariffs are imposed on 🇿🇦 by starting to buy only non-American-produced and/or -owned goods and groceries from supermarkets (as far as possible—local is lekker).

Do you know why a president would do all the most evil and heinous shit via Executive Order? Because his party can't easily make it law. And if they can't make it law, they can't make it last.

Don't let anyone make you feel like this is The End. Do not let them demoralize you. Live to see them die.
