As part of the NVT Literacy Festival, Year 5 visited Foyles bookshop to spend their £1 World Book Day tokens. They thoroughly enjoyed browsing the shelves and keen to read their books straight away.

For Children’s Mental Health Week, student councilors led assemblies on the theme ‘This Is My Place’, highlighting the importance of belonging and sharing practical tips to support inclusion and positive mental wellbeing.

As part of our People Who Help Us topic, Reception visited the local post office to learn about postal workers and even posted a class letter to their partner classes — hands-on, meaningful learning!

As part of the National Year of Reading, Vicarage is hosting a range of library events. This week, pupils were engaged with Fact Foraging - They had exclusive access to non-fiction books and wrote about what new, fascinating facts they found. #readingforpleasure

Year 2 pupils had a fantastic visit to @WWetlands as part of their Science unit on Living Things and Habitats. They went pond dipping, spotted wildlife with binoculars and observed minibeasts up close.

Year 5 pupils were captivated during the Iliad Project lead by Jonny Walker who is a poetry and mythology specialist educator. Pupils had the opportunity to re-enact famous scenes from the Iliad and have become experts in Greek mythology!

Year 2 pupils stepped back in time in an incredible immersive workshop led by Florence Nightingale herself!
She brought the Crimean War to life, helping children understand the challenges soldiers faced and her vital role in transforming their care.

We recently used the Leiths Education cookery resources in LKS2. Huge thanks to the teachers and classes who took part — excited to bring even more Leiths magic into our DT curriculum!

Our Year 4 pupils had an amazing Roman Day! They took part in a fun workshop where they learned all about Roman soldiers, their armour and what life was like in the Roman army. They loved trying out activities and discovering how Romans trained and prepared for battle!

Our Year 3 pupils participated in an engaging Stone Age workshop, deepening their understanding of prehistoric life through hands-on learning and interactive activities. A valuable experience that brought history to life.

Year 4 pupils had an amazing time in their DT workshop with Homegrown Bread! The children learned about the journey from grain to loaf — using wheat grown in our own school garden — and even made their own bread from scratch.
Hands-on, engaging and so much fun!
