CNN article "the conflict has already cost six American lives".
I understand how their domestic politics works, but every "anti-war" article that writes the American toll without even a mention of 100s of schoolchildren and other civilians bombed makes me hate America more. Only American life has meaning.

I read and enjoyed the original column. Nothing too controversial, if anything he was asking for a bit of generosity towards the players : ie. Don't expect your sports heroes to also be intellectual heroes.
Seems like the Globe is handling it well with this classy/ mildly sassy response.
The first two are not objectives, just things things they can aim missiles at.

01.03.2026 22:38 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Agreed these and heavy e-moped should not be in narrow bike lanes. Solution is a full lane for slower ebike/cargo on some key arterials otherwise they will have to mix with traffic. 30 or 40km/h limits makes this feasible, as well as sharing some bus lanes with no stopping.

Is there any concept of something happening for the greater good in Canada?
If affected, these landowners will be well compensated for slivers of their land, but instead the Bloc has opportunistically riled them up with the spectre of Mirabel airport.

05.02.2026 20:59 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I like your idea of written responses. For citizens and journalists it's easier to archive, search, and less performative antics for the camera. We have a gov. culture of secrecy regardless of the medium, we need strong media and leaks to keep them transparent.
04.02.2026 20:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0What people also don't see behind the scenes is the army of 'neutral' civil servants that get roped into prepping minister responses. 04.02.2026 20:01 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Your government is in power. Why not advocate for improving existing VIA services and let Alto make optimized decisions to actually get HSR built.

Alternative headline: "NA manufacturers fear competition from superior product".
"Cheap Chinese" is designed to appeal to those that hear 'made in China' as a slur for low quality, and therefore somehow the consumer is the loser in this deal.
There will be opposition, especially from rural, but if the libs don't hold their ground and trust Alto to make decisions, we will end up with a UK HS2 situation: endless delay, ballooning costs. @markgerretsen.bsky.social
