It's still weird not opening November with the first words of a new book. I do know I could still do it but I have too many unfinished, unpolished books that need to get wrapped up before I start a new one.

Sometimes I make things to be functional. Sometimes I make things to be pretty. And sometimes, just for myself, I make things because I want to wear both things without wearing two necklaces.

Did the reading. Had/ having the expected anxiety attack. I really wish I could just not. Also, do people really not know who phobos is?

Anxiety and readings don't mix well but this is my brave thing for this week. I wish it helped that I know none of these people

My town is having a disability awareness and independence week. There was an art show Monday, events Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and today is a poetry afternoon. I'm here with poems, just in case. Not really good at reading in personbut, I have it just in case.

I made a gnat away spray for market day today. I can see them in other booths, but there have been way way fewer in mine this week. I'll take that as a win.

Found my favorite ever teacher on social media. It seems an inactive account but I don't care overmuch. Got to write the thank you letter I should have written in high school. He made the awful years a bit brighter. If he sees it, super yay. If not, I put those words out into the universe anyway.

Sort of related thing I happen to know... in Spokane, wa there is(was?) A statue of a large metal goat you could feed trash to. I do hope he's still there, he was great fun.

My patchouli is looking pretty happy today. I started her from a seed about 4 years ago, and we had a bit of a struggle along the way, but she loves her new pot (with proper drainage). I know she's not everyone's cuppa but I love her.

Just about everything about today has been irksome. And then people get irritated with me for being irritated/irritable which is also super irksome.

First farmers market of the season today. Couldn't have asked for better weather and I made enough to get the supplies for a new project in my head. Love that!

Sculpting mushies and I've got one amanita that just doesn't want to cooperate. Bah. I did have a great idea for a wearable bleeding tooth fungus with purple garnets but I'm just not sure there's an actual market for that particular fungus. Do you think it's just a step too far?

I think I've got the ending for my Appalachian folk horror book... now I've just got to write it. I think having direction in this case, even just sort of, well help get the foundation just so... maybe I'll get some words tonight, after painting.

Freshly poured st johns wort herbal soap that is sort of neon green.

Freshly cut St. Johns Wort herbal soap that has mellowed into a vaguely green shade.

I had such a strange color journey with my last soap. The oils started a beautiful deep red color due to the use of St. Johns Wort infused olive oil. As soon as I added my lye water, it turned this tmnt ooze neon green. On cut, it's now vaguely greenish. I have no idea how the color will cure.

I went to a poetry symposium in my little town last night, turned out to be a memorial (I was not expecting that). A little odd at first, but I'm glad I went. If half as many people give a damn when I die, especially in verse, I'll consider that a successful life. #poetry
