a whole lotta "sanctuaries" kinda feel like somebody's excuse to own a big private colleciton of animals while advocating that no one else should own them

all 3 brothers had it if you saw them in the right light. different shades and 1 was silvermane but they were all cinnamon. i finally confirmed the breeder misidentified their color once and for all by them having red pupils lol yay genetics (and also eyes…do those rats look “blue” to you? lmfao)

this of course comes with a downside. like figuring out exactly what’s wrong with my rat weeks before a vet finally starts to believe me. it’s at that point i hate paying so much attention. because if something feels off, then i know their fate weeks or months in advance

i always notice shit and nobody else finds it cool. like itachi having carpal hyperextension and a deformed tear duct, or sam being odd-eyed and the ruby was just too dark a shade for the breeder to notice, blue jean having blue and misshapen irises that don’t respond to light, etc.

it rlly sucks being insanely autistic about my rodents sometimes. nobody EVER gets excited when i’m seemingly the first to notice cool shit, like “discovering” grey irises with misshapen pupils in some blue rats, or visibly red pupils to the naked eye in my cinnamon rats!! or my spiny mice boggling!

at first i theorized it was excessive tissue regrowth after minor cuts because gawain's ear most certainly grew back a little bit after it was bitten. but now i'm not so sure. it started with bors and slowly progressed. galahad is the only one who seems immune

yes they have contagious ear warts it's a mystery...much like i'm the only person to document the fact that they boggle, nobody seems to give a shit about ear bumps i sometimes see, bors had one removed and all they could tell me is that it was benign. it's why i won't breed these just yet
