It looks like part of either the prosternum or the hypomeron (ventral portion of the propleuron).

Ultimately the claim is that Congress *won’t* do anything, which is very different from Congress *can’t* do anything.

You’d think that there being two completely different stories (one not involving the rib) in Genesis itself would be more of a problem, but also that gives them an out for the ribs being the same?

I don’t know, I feel like AI would have been trained on enough average human writing that it wouldn’t write something this unhinged.

Papers aren't written to fucking impress people. And yes it's MUCH harder to explain something without using precise technical language, because that's exactly what allows you to say only what you mean. Feynmann's quote is about how difficult it is to simplify it!

Would misfiling the indictment like this alone count as misconduct? Or since there wasn’t any wording changed, would the court treat it as stupidity/paperwork and give them another shot?

On the one hand I can see this kind of thing viewed as a technicality, but this particular one is SO egregious…

The ozone layer depletion never got that bad at that latitude. OTOH a lot of the smog was ground-level ozone.

Collapse of the Third Republic as well, even more relevant right now.

Scientists have actual jobs, doing science. I am a nobody without a high profile and I still get 20 emails a week asking for interviews or talking to students or whatever. It's nice that there's interest but I just don't have time for all this crap. That's why there are scicomm people.

Had Enough Child In Rain GIF Alt: A child lies down dejectedly on a sidewalk in the rain.

I made the mistake of deciding to sign up for health insurance via healthcare marketplace this morning, since all hope of a tax break is gone. The plan I had in 2025 will now cost $1,400/MONTH. The cheapest I can get for 2026 will be a bronze plan $973/month. I'll just be lying here like this:

My local hospital, which serves the largest city on the island as well as a huge rural area, is pretty much only being kept afloat by donations from Marc Benioff of all people. If he decides to stop, or just moves and takes his donations with him? Not a great system!

The text of the charges is the same which is why they’re going to claim it’s ok, but the actual document is different. Including renumbering count 2 as count 1 and 3 as 2.

They went around my dorm on move in day when the doors were open and tossed a stack of coupons ($6 for a large) in each hall. Nobody picked them up so after a couple days I took them all, about 100. Foolishly they neglected to put an expiration date so I used them for about three years.

Domino’s in the 90s was pretty much cardboard. I lived on it for several years of college because they had super cheap coupons.

but also you have to buy a new one after 10 years or less because it costs too much to replace the board when it breaks.

Same thing for appliances like ovens and washing machines. Put all the controls on a $200 printed circuit board, run a few wires to it, and that's it. Versus wiring up a bunch of dials with small parts and manual controls. It's why you can buy a washer for the same price as 10 years ago

Recent immigrants are more evangelical. Wouldn't be surprised if they mostly target small pop-up Pentecostal churches. Kinda skeptical that will go over well with the born again crowd either.
