An enhanced rehab area on Earsham ward is helping people return straight home.

The orthogeriatric ward cares for patients who have a fractured neck of femur (hip).

The initiative has resulted in improved outcomes for some patients who no longer need to go to another healthcare-based setting.

Emphysema is a chronic lung disease that damages the air sacs and other lung tissue, making it difficult to breathe. It’s a type of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

MRI at the NNUH CDC

Since opening in February 2025 our CDC has delivered improved performance across all its imaging services, contributing to shorter waits for key tests.

In the first 11 months the CDC programme offering MRI, CT, General Ultrasound and X-Ray has delivered just over 110,000 exams.

As Learning from Deaths Administrative Assistant she has consistently gone above and beyond, providing invaluable support with complex data analysis that has directly contributed to service improvements and improved patient care.

The Quadram Institute Clinical Seedcorn Fund was set up to help clinicians develop research ideas with scientists at QI.

Eight-year-old Esme has joined the Norfolk & Norwich Hospitals Charity’s AirMazing Challenge to ‘walk around the world’.

Esme and 55 other young patients under our Cystic Fibrosis care have been given wearable fitness trackers to encourage them to exercise.

Meet Alex Watson who joined us in December as our hospital’s first Memory Maker.

Working across all adult in-patient wards, she will lead and co-ordinate a dedicated team of trained volunteers who will offer compassionate support to patients and their families as they approach the end of life.

Sammy Morgan

A former international footballer has joined one of our surgeons in calling for greater awareness of oesophageal and gastric cancers.

Sammy Morgan, who played for Northern Ireland, was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and referred to Prof Bhaskar Kumar, oesophagogastric cancer lead at NNUH.

The clinical trial, “SIGHT: Spatial Inattention Grasping Therapy”, is in collaboration with UEA, Norwich Research Park and Therapeutic Services research leadership.

Marco Gasparetto, Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist, has been appointed a Consultant Clinical Associate Professor at UEA.

The appointment is part of a collaboration to expand our research activity.

His focus is on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in children, a lifelong condition.
