Two of our Staff Award winners received their trophies from Chief Operating Officer Chris Cobb on Wednesday, after missing last week’s celebration event.

Gemma Partridge won the Diversity Award and Augusta Eagleton received the Allied Health Team of the Year award.

“To all at Loddon Ward, the thoughtfulness you show means so much more than you would ever know. Thank you for the care you gave our dad during the last two weeks he stayed on your ward. Thank you for making this difficult time easier for our family. The palliative care team has been such a huge support… your support has given so much peace for us and Dad.”

A pilot's exploring the benefits of delivering hospital-based imaging services at home, preventing unnecessary trips to A&E.

Funded by the East Diagnostics Imaging Network, a low-powered mobile imaging device carries out X-rays in the community without the need of a specially-adapted room.

“I brought my 11-month-old son into A&E on the advice of the RRV paramedic who came out to us. He was suffering from bronchiolitis and his breathing took a rapid decline that evening. We went straight to CAU, who took us over to Buxton Ward, and despite how worrying it was for me, the staff were absolutely amazing. The care my son received was incredible. Every person we saw was honest and informative and answered every single question I had. They all treated my son beautifully from arrival to discharge. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping me grounded without even realising it. It’s only since we have been home and I’ve had time to process things that I’ve realised how incredibly scary that situation could have been had we not been cared for so well.”

Evans family donation

Huge thanks to the Evans’ family and friends who raised £1500 in memory of Stan Evans who recently passed away at the age of 83 years.

The money has purchased a Dermatoscope, a handheld microscope used to diagnose melanoma, resulting in early treatment with better outcomes.
